Responsive: Decrease Breakpoint

Currently, it looks like there is a breakpoint at width of 1480px on the ROBLOX website. Under this, the sidebar menu is collapsed.

My poor laptop has a 720p display, so anytime I’m using my laptop’s screen for the website, I get the collapsed version. However, the expanded sidebar still fits fine on the 720 display (1366px width when maximized, according to Chrome).

It would be cool if that breakpoint was decreased so that the sidebar was still expanded on 720p displays.

Just my thought. Seems to impact my personal user experience quite a bit, since I have to expand the sidebar any time I want to navigate to a page from a button on that menu.

I think the reason for that breakpoint is that when takeover ads are displayed on the home page, the full takeover will still be visible. I suppose they could add an class to a page element and make a rule that makes the sidebar show up by default if there is no takeover.

e.g.

@media (min-width: 1200px) .no-takeover.rbx-left-col { box-shadow: 0 0 3px rgba(25, 25, 25, 0.3); display: block; }

That’s WXGA. Not 720p. The ‘720’ bit refers to vertical pixels. 1366x720 would give you a very letterbox screen.

You’re right. I’m not very familiar with that terminology apparently!

Chances are your display’s height is somewhere in the 900px range - like mine is. (1440x900)
I get this problem too and it’s horrible. I wouldn’t mind if the state of the sidebar was retained between page browsing sessions/page reloads, either. I have already set up a userscript which does this, fortunately. Makes everything a lot easier when browsing. For that matter, I redesigned the entire website to look more OBC-based and made the white on most pages darker so it’s easier to browse.

I wouldn’t mind if a theme existed which looked like this:

Bad luck digpoe. You’re about 100 pixels off from having the sidebar constant on :frowning:

It’s such a shame this happens.

Now I have the userscript which allows the sidebar to retain its state between sessions/page reloads/etc, everything has become a lot easier, and I don’t really mind.
