Hello! I’d like to suggest a change to the event badges that display on top of event thumbnails.
My suggestion is to remove the badge! And instead, place the information they convey below the image.
Why? It blocks our art and making art to fit around it doesn’t work because it shows differently on all platforms.
Reasoning? No thumbnails across all of Roblox have anything placed on them. We shouldn’t have to make custom thumbnails to avoid the badge overlapping our own art/text. Thumbnails should speak for themselves with no additional additives.
References
On the events page it shows with this badge:
The badge in the top left blocks our art!
But it also shows on the event page like this with no badge:
If we make room for it, there would be a blank spot here!
On the game page, it shows with an even bigger badge
This takes up massive real-estate on the thumbnail!
And on mobile, they are completely different and take up even more space
It nearly blocks the entire thumbnail!
What have we tried?
We tried making room for the Roblox badge, and placed our own text behind the Roblox badge to prevent the empty space. However, this doesn’t work on mobile because mobile is a different format. In the example below, I put text behind the badge. But this doesn’t work on mobile.
Looks good on PC - you can and can’t see it appropriately.
Doesn’t work out on mobile.
Suggestion?
I think it would be best to move it to below the thumbnail.
Honestly, I don’t even care to have the badge at all once the event is live. The only important thing the badge does is show the date “Sat, May 17, etc” but that should be placed below the thumbnail.
Thanks!
