INTRODUCTION
I was developing a game with thousands of Humanoid NPCs, causing performance to crash.
Switching to AnimationControllers fixed this issue, but introduced a new limitation:
❌ Only Humanoids Can Render Clothing.
TUTORIAL
You can now finally dress R6 and R15 Rigs with Classic Shirts and Pants without having to use Humanoids at all! Press the Import button in the Plugin UI to use special optimized Rigs! (v3.0+)
NOTE:
Since
v2.2you’re not required to upload Templates anymore! Simply insert your AssetIDs and you can proceed to apply clothing onto your Rigs in just one click.
How to obtain an AssetID?
v3.0+ does it automatically for you!
Here is a tutorial if you’re using an outdated version of RigWrap.
Step 1/2:
Find a Classic Shirt or Pants on the Catalog
. Click on it and you should see the URL
at the top of your browser look something like this:
https://www.roblox.com/catalog/607785314/ROBLOX-Jacket
This is the AssetID. Now go ahead and copy the number, which in this case is 607785314.
Step 2/2:
You can manually use InsertService to insert the Asset as a ShirtTemplate or PantsTemplate, then print its Template ID. Run the following code in your Roblox Console:
WARNING:
InsertService could potentially be used by Exploiters to insert malicious code into Studio. Therefore you should never insert unknown IDs into your game.
local InsertService = game:GetService("InsertService")
local Asset = InsertService:LoadAsset(YOUR_ASSET_ID)
print(Asset:FindFirstChildOfClass("Shirt").ShirtTemplate)
Replace Asset:FindFirstChildOfClass("Shirt").ShirtTemplate with Asset:FindFirstChildOfClass("Pants").PantsTemplate if you’re trying to get a PantsTemplate instead of a ShirtTemplate.
Can I still use Humanoids and benefit from RigWrap?
You are not required to use Non-Humanoid Rigs. You will absolutely benefit from using RigWrap even if your Rigs contain Humanoids. As long as you do not use Shirt and Pants Instances, you will notice significant increases in overall performance by letting RigWrap handle clothing rendering for you.
How do I make my own custom Clothes?
You can upload your own custom Shirt or Pants by downloading the Official Roblox Clothing Template, designing it in a Software of your choice and uploading it via Roblox as a Decal here.

Make sure to share them on this Topic!
Furthermore, here are some frequently asked questions or concerns about RigWrap.
Issues that were solved in
v3.3 BETA:
Black spots on my clothes
Black spots are caused by transparent areas on your ClothingTemplate. RigWrap used to render Clothing by modyfing TextureIDs of Meshes due to Roblox’s past internal limitations.
If you are using an older version of RigWrap and want to fix this issue, you can manually insert SurfaceAppearances into the limbs that are affected by black spots. Change their ColorMap to the AssetId of your Shirt / Pants and Roblox will now support alpha texture rendering.
This issue was fixed in
v3.3 BETA, meaning you don’t have to manually insert SurfaceAppearances any longer.
Black/white blurry outlines
Black or white lines that appear on transparent limb parts are caused by pixel bleeding. The only solution is to update the plugin and use the new rig with updated UV-maps. This issue was fixed in
v3.3 BETA.
R6 Rig can't animate
If you are using RigWrap v3.3 BETA and are unable to animate the included R6 Rig, do the following:
Solution 1: (Easiest)
- Update RigWrap, replace your Rig with the new fixed Rig and proceed with your animation. I have published a quick, untitled update.
Solution 2:
- Select your R6 Rig
- Check each Motor6D and assure that each of their Part1 value is set to the corresponding body part (NOT nil). This includes:
| Where to find? | Motor6D | Correct “Part1” Property | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Torso | Right Shoulder | Right Arm | |
| Torso | Right Hip | Right Leg | |
| Torso | Left Shoulder | Left Arm | |
| Torso | Left Hip | Left Leg | |
| HumanoidRootPart | Root Joint | HumanoidRootPart | |
Also, unanchor all limb parts and confirm that your Rig contains an AnimationController.
This will solve the issue.
This issue was fixed in an emergency update on 09/29/26 15:20 UTC.
If you require any assistance, contact me immediately.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
