While live-ops is good in theory, I would rather have both events and live-ops coexist.
Taking away events would make the Roblox community very upset, due to the fact that Roblox won’t award catalog items anymore.
I personally feel that Live-Ops are just featured, but for 1 day. I believe that there is no reason for them to exist, and that normal roblox events should come back.
Wasn’t the whole point of Live-Ops to get people to play the game when the update comes out? I have no idea how these are even considered a possible replacement for events. It’s basically just free publicity.
Hello Developers, hello Roblox Staff, hello everybody else.
As you may know, the topic ‘‘Roblox 2019 Events Update’’ is very popular currently. People are begging not to remove events in the Roblox streams, in game, and even here. I agree with everybody who posted here. As this topic is very important to me, I have to handle.
We all as Developers are fighting currently, some may or may not like this update, but most of the Roblox community would vote (if there was a poll) for events to be kept. As more and more people join Roblox, they have still no items at all. After exploring Roblox for a little bit, they start to think, what is what and how to get items. But if these free items are not included, what’d they get when they join a server? They get insults like ‘‘Hah you noob.’’, of course they can use the report button, but I just feel bad for these people, and I fight for them. If I see someone insulting anyone as a noob, I’m talking to that person straight.
So what ARE bad things about this concept?
(1) People will lose interest in playing these games
People will lose slowly interest in playing 1 game a day that is on a live-ops page for 24h, which repeats every day, and every month. Same concept: More people lose interest.
(2) People will have a hard time forgetting removals like this one
Like someone already mentioned, things like these will be never forgotten, considering people still talk about tix (especially in Shed’s game). But removing events will be a drama, not seeing ANY event on the page, but a thing called ‘‘Black-Ops’’ would make me think of all the past events I’ve been though, because I have been collecting events since I joined. I had every egg hunt egg, I had every sponsored event since late 2016, it would be sad if you’d remove seasonal events and sponsored.
And many more that were listen above.
Let me get to my point.
We should start waiting and see how this will turn out, and hope roblox will make a good decision. They have enough things to look at, which were posted here, to decide, what the final product will be.
Thank you.
Did you mean to say the opposite?
People already lost interest in events. This’ll just make it worse
Unlike tix, nobody really liked the events. They weren’t really that fun to do, people really just played them for the hats.
TBH I do hate this update, but honestly, it’s just digging the 50-foot grave of Events even further.
There are many users, including me, who would disagree with that.
Aside from that, most hats released for events past 2013, in my opinion, were very bad.
I’m looking at you, halloween 2014!!!
Sometimes they’re good (rarely), but most of the time I just find myself leaving the game out of boredom.
A great example of a great event is last year’s Egg Hunt.
The hats are completely pointless and make your character look atrocious, but you play it for the collecting and the adventure.
I honestly wish there would be more events like this one
I think Live-Ops is a great way for developers to gain more revenue / players but, events are a great mechanic of Roblox and got players to new games and they could add an accessory to their inventory. Events made players work for items and they were generally fun. I would like to see what happens with Live-Ops.
Agreed that you had to work for the items, but you had to work through the boredom of the games usually. Like (In my opinion) when you just had to fetch things and bring them back, like a dog fetching a stick or something.
But, you know what DID make players work for items and WAS generally fun? Giftsplosions.
There are different opinions about all this, so we’ll just have to wait, to see what roblox will do in the future.
I really disagree to this change. Sponsored events/regular events games will get way more exposure, because of one reason: Items. Most players can’t get robux, and often rely on events to get items. Without this, you can expect just people wearing either the Pal Hair or Noodle Hair. Live Ops games will barely get any exposure because there’s no incentive to play them, what, an in game prize? I can’t see how people will be attracted to that. There is one thing that I do like about it live ops, and that’s how it brings new games to the spotlight, while main events usually feature either the same games or games that are already popular, so in a way, it can be good for new developers that can try to get some exposure for their games, but like I said, I doubt the exposure for a live ops game will be big as exposure for a event game.
Yeah, It would enable devs to get a better playerbase.
I honestly really disagree with this change. A lot of the things I am concerned about are mentioned, but I would like to make a comparison:
Roblox is like Apple (now I am an Apple lover, but Apple has some serious problems which is why I’m comparing it with Roblox as I feel the same about Roblox).
Apple likes to make controversial decisions; I don’t think it’s an overstatement to say that Roblox likes to do the same. Let’s compare Apple removing the headphone jack to Roblox removing events. First off, both Apple and Roblox have the power to “ride out the storm” of any controversial change. Second, their decisions ofter come with severe opposition. Now I’m not saying the opposition is dumb-founded; on the contrary, opposers have many good reasons to fight the change. But Apple being Apple (and Roblox being Roblox), they do not cave-in.
Now there is a flaw in this comparison: the headphone jack removal is old news and removal of events is recent. The headphone jack removal was successful: it pushed Bluetooth technology to evolve in many good ways and, if you really loves your wires, there was a dongle for that. The thing is with Roblox’s removal of events, there is no “dongle”. There is no way to have your free catalog items anymore if you’re a non-paying player; only in game rewards. This is why I believe this will do way more harm than good. Again, I can’t tell the future, but I really disagree with this. Roblox will probably not listen to our pleas, but it’s worth a chance.
To the people believing there will never be another nice event, you’re wrong. The post says “These Live-ops opportunities will replace our current monthly events and seasonal events” Clearly stating it’s MONTHLY events. Good nice events like the egg hunt events will stay.
Edit: I completely support Live-ops and I believe you should too. Think of how many new creators can get their name out there, make incredible unheard of games, show talents we’ve never seen before because of the massive luck behind growing.
No offense, but your post contradicts itself:
The post says “These Live-ops opportunities will replace our current monthly events and seasonal events” Clearly stating it’s MONTHLY events.
Seasonal events are events like Egg Hunts, Hallows’ Eve and whatnot, so by what they said, seasonal events are ALSO going away unless otherwise stated.
I mean we still do not know what will happen and how this will work. A lot of people were shocked about ‘Anthro’ when it was announced and leaked. Everyone made a really big drama and discussion about rthro, and now most of the people are using it.
Taking away events is like taking away an entire chunk of Roblox itself. Especially when that now includes the Egg Hunt as it is a “seasonal event.”
This Live-Ops idea is again, good in theory, but it shouldn’t warrant taking away such a big part of the site. It wouldn’t be as much of a problem if they kept the seasonal events, or even just the Egg Hunt, but it’s really more of a problem when everything is just flat out gone.
Myself (and so many others) cherished the Egg Hunts immensely. They’ve been a crucial part of my time on this site and are a joy for so many to play. Is this year truly the last one? Flat out stopping them like this doesn’t rest easy with me and many others.
This will honestly do more harm than good to the community in the long run. There are still benefits to this, but the negatives FAR outweigh the positives here. Not to mention the fact that the main way of getting free items has been shut off.
I think the worst part about this is that it means Egg Hunts are ending with a 2015 styled one rather than a 2018 or 2017 styled one. Really disappointed that it came to this but I can’t say I’m surprised with how Roblox has been handling seasonal things in the past few years. Posts like this really make me wish there was a dislike button on the forum.
Im not fund of this change getting rid of something complete from site is just awfull! Like seasonal events like the egghunt are speacail to Roblox. How are new players supoosed to get eggs and new items for their char if they dont has bc or robux… in my eyes im gonna see this gonna go downhill with no egghunt nore events…
