I understand that things change and always will but I think that this is another case where if we could receive more information on why this was decided it would be highly appreciated.
One of the things that concern me the most about the removal of seasonal events and their prizes is related to Avatars and their customization. With the recent introduction of Anthro, a lot of the remaining free hats have become only really truly wearable on specific things due to being built for one of the new anthro head shapes. I feel like the removal of these seasonal events and their various hats that were intended to fit all models including non-Anthro will be debilitating towards the overall creative variety of outfits that (non paying) players can create. Obviously in the future, if devs have the ability to create their own hats this will no longer be a problem but for now, Iâm curious how Roblox will counteract this from happening.
There actually was never a way to cash out Tix for R$, what you are thinking of was the exchange in which was a currency trade between one or many players. This was actually users buying and selling Tix and R$ in exchange for the other. R$ where not generated in this process.
Honestly I miss Tix to this day. I wish they had made larger Tix sinks. Make a couple super expensive hats, etc to help re-balance the value (when they were getting rid of them the inflation problem actually shifted to tickets being more valuable because there where limited hats that cost a ton, lowering the supply while also upping the demand). The problem with Tix was they were not an avenue Roblox as a company wanted to continue, they cost the company money to manage and create content for, while not generating direct profit. I miss them dearly.
Big oof. With the removal of Monthly and now seasonal events I feel that more than ever Roblox needs to start allowing developers to give away content they have created for free, even in itâs current limited forms.
I hope to see this drive changes that are positive, but this is a hard lump to take. Itâs cool that Roblox is expanding as a platform, but I feel like itâs lost itâs character, and thus itâs unique charm.
Will there be no more Bloxy Awards, considering that the Bloxy Awards have a theatre made by developers? Will this mark the return of an in-house events team for things like this?
Itâs sad to see that Egg Hunt 2019 will be the last event on ROBLOX. Iâm hoping Live-Ops will be something good for ROBLOX. Iâm curious how this will turn out.
Thats what im not understanding, most developers already do seasonal updates. Wouldnât this make any âLive Opsâ seasonal updates feel the same? What would be unique about it being âLive Opsâ?
Adding seasonal events seems a step too far for me.
I see the heavy workflow behind it and I see the need for LiveOp events by developers for players. For Roblox to step back so quickly doesnât feel right to me.
It does fit into their brand view of being a platform and a platform only. There is a place for them to be the platform and only the platform, but I feel that Roblox should still interact with the player and development community with an event once or twice a year. Bloxy awards, Egg Hunt, etc.
Does it mean that these events are going to go away? Not at all, and it could even be better that what Roblox offers by playing the power into our community and deal with the complaints that events get.
I would even be happy to offer some time to offer a Bloxy award to Roblox every year with a team behind me. A community Bloxy awards.
The topic has been updated saying that seasonal events will also be affected. Egg hunt 2019 is the last egg hunt everybody.
Itâs been a great time with all of you fellow Robloxians, in my opinion, seasonal events should stay because theyâre just fun, and they also provide catalog items for newer players. It was great to wait for Egg Hunt from late 2016 till now. A lot of robloxians, including me love seasonal events. Especially Egg Hunt, because egg hunt is an event I personally wait for every year. Itâs sad to see Egg Hunt go because, it was just growing and growing. I though the next years egg hunt would have like 60-70 eggs, but sadly it will be gone. Enjoy your last Egg Hunt
Iâll be honest, I didnât think that when I made Beesmas itâd become the community standard for events just like 2 years later. Well, I hope this update at least encourages developers to interact as a community rather than separate entities, which is sort of what I was going for with Beesmas.
We honestly need admin responses here. This post is confusing many people in many ways. Are events like the Nike and Pizza Party getting removed, but ones like Halloween and Egg Hunt stay, or will the entire kit and kaboodle be removed? Are these games going to be on there for multiple days? Are these events like beesmas?
Whilst I wouldnât be surprised if Roblox decides to go through with the removal of seasonal events i.e. the Egg Hunt, I wouldnât give up hope yet. Now this was a while ago but when the 2015 Egg Hunt happened a lot of people werenât satisfied with it compared to the previous few Egg Hunts and on the old Roblox forums they voiced their concerns, with the uproar becoming so loud that a mod made a feedback thread asking the users what they wanted to see from the Egg Hunts.
Next year, we got the 2016 Egg Hunt which was more along the lines of what users wanted because of the feedback given in the forums and other places. Basically whilst decisions like these arenât great, if enough people voice their concerns then itâs very possible that seasonal events wonât be removed. Of course, that was 3-4 years ago and things have changed since then. But it still doesnât hurt to voice your concerns over this change - at the very least thereâs certainly a lot of people who want seasonal events like the Egg Hunt to stay, and thatâs just in this thread.
I definitely want the Egg Hunt to stay at the very least, itâd be a shame if it just straight up didnât even happen and was replaced with these Live-Ops events. Now Iâm ok with the concept of Live-Ops themselves, and I donât even mind the removal of monthly events (most were boring) but removing the seasonal events in place of this new system is just a bit much honestly. Hopefully the admins notice the feedback in this thread and revert the decision not to have seasonal events - it would be a shame if they went.
This is my final opinion on the live-Ops:
The idea is too bad since it replaces the events, there would be more users playing without paying who has the same accessories as other users.
It must be said that it benefits the Developers experience and damages the experience of Free Users.
I prefer the events because in those you can get free accessories.
Ok, now youâre going too far. It was ok when monthly events were gone but Seasonal events? Thatâs going way too far. Egg Hunt and Halloween events are historic to ROBLOXâs history, Iâm sorry but this is most probably the worst choice ever made.
I definitely agree. While Roblox does tend to make quite a few controversial choices, they do have some awareness of feedback given by the community. While it doesnât guarantee that changes will be made to the update, it is still a possibility.
Honestly, this sounds like the end of the line for Roblox events. We are destroying the history that has established since 2007, where first events emerged. 12 years of history. Canât we make the numbers more memorable?
Besides, the community seems to criticize the events a lot. Maybe they think that the designs were improper. Although criticism, removing the entire thing is very negative to the veterans, especially people who find Egg Hunt the most memorable and perhaps what seems to be an iconic part of Roblox. Removing the events will meet more criticism, in my beliefs.
Again, on the positive sides, we can see that this update actually benefits the developers to shine in the spotlight. This does not balance the loss for the community, only favors the developers.
âŚbut if this update were in place, events will be missed. What will the community respond anyways?
â Oh, and Iâm going to discuss about this change with a friend of mine(not a developer, but a player) to see whatâs his opinion on it. Weâll find out if he is against this idea.
Egg Hunts, Halloween Events, Christmas Events were alot of reasons why people actually continued to play ROBLOX⌠After you removed christmas gifts, a big portion of the community died, Iâm afraid to see how much of the OG community is going to die with the removal of seasonal events that goes way back to 2008-2009. I can partially agree with monthly events⌠but I feel seasonal events should stay⌠Or atleast if youâre going to make season events apart of liveops, work with developers that will be in that monthly live op and create hats to somewhat fill in that blank spot of seasonal events⌠I understand that maybe these events may be overwhelming to conduct⌠But there is so much different ways you can go upon this changeâŚ
Im sure there are many people in this community who wouldnât mind help assisting in seasonal events, such as creating egg designs, hat designs, etcâŚ
Well, in my opinion, replacing monthly events AND sesonal events is something quite wild and not good.
Yes, Live-ops will give new opportunities for devs to expand their work, but, the monthly and seasonal events are one of two only ways to get free items (Hats, Gear, Accessories, etc).
And, monthly events hold a LOT of history, removing them as a whole would justâŚpull the plug completly.
If roblox were to add the live-ops and not replace monthly/seasonal events, Iâd think thatâd be neat, like having a different feature.
