Roblox app repeatedly launches at login and consumes large amounts of CPU

macOS Sequoia 15.7.7 (24G720)

Launching or quitting the Roblox app causes it to register as an ‘Open at login’ app. Even if the user opts out by removing Roblox from System Preferences, or via the right click menu on the Dock, Roblox will re-register itsself to Open at login. This is already unwanted behaviour.

The further nuisance comes when I have multiple found that after quitting the Roblox app (it no longer appears in Dock, or the ‘Force Quit Apps’ dialogue), after checking Activity Monitor, it will be consuming 100% of a CPU consistently.

This is probably two bugs, one being the high CPU usage of Roblox when running in the background & should be fixed. I’m quite annoyed at the behaviour of Roblox to repeatedly register itsself to start with the computer without any consent from the user, it seems like behaviour I’d expect to see from sketchy PUP malware, not a reputable application, especially as I can imagine less savvy users installing Roblox to play once, forgetting about it and it being the reason for their battery to drain unnecessarily months down the line.

Also, after trying to use my computer without an internet connection, I suddenly got this prompt. Clicking either option (retry or cancel) causes it to just pop up the error message again.

It appears Roblox starts another process “RobloxMenuBar” that will repeatedly open the Roblox app whenever its not open, you can quit this from Activity Monitor
