How close are you to any Roblox player?
Are you friends with David Baszucki? Turns out, most Roblox players are only a handful of people away from Builderman, KreekCraft, or any other well-known account. This free tool traces those connections for you.

If you used to check this on areyoufriendswithdavid.com or areyoufriendswithdavid.xyz, those sites are no longer around. We added quite a bit more to what that site used to have, including mutual friend detection, a live 3D network graph, and shareable result links.

Six degrees of separation
There’s a well-known theory that any two people on Earth are connected through six or fewer social connections, called Six Degrees of Separation, and it was first proposed in 1929 by Frigyes Karinthy.

The idea is that the world is smaller than it feels. Your friend knows someone who knows someone, and before long you’ve reached anyone. From data we’ve tested so far, the same usually holds true for Roblox. Learn more about the Six Degrees of Separation theory

What are degrees of separation?
If you’re friends with someone on Roblox, then that’s 1 degree of separation. If your friend is friends with David Baszucki, you’re 2 degrees of separation away from the Roblox CEO! This tool searches thousands of friend lists to find the shortest chain between any two accounts.

Limitations
In 2023, the United Kingdom passed the Online Safety Act, which required platforms including Roblox to hide friend lists for accounts based in the UK. This means we cannot access friend data for British accounts, which reduces the total pool of paths our search can explore. In practice, the actual degrees of separation between two players might be lower than what we show, but the UK restrictions prevent us from finding those shorter routes. Learn more about the UK Online Safety Act
However, if @Roblox lifts this restriction for 18+ age-checked Roblox accounts in the UK, we’ll get closer to being able to accurately find the shortest path between two Roblox accounts:

Can you explain how this works?

My account location is set to the United Kingdom, but I still want to see how far I am from someone. What should I do?

Until I figure out a workaround, check this reply suggested by @Hdiwowjbdsj (thank you!):

Why FriendPath? You've listed a few other games that achieve similar functionality too.
  • Websites are more accessible than Roblox games
  • The only other two major websites that achieved this functionality are both gone
  • FriendPath shows you some other cool information too, such as 2D & 3D node graphs to visualize the process, % friend overlap details, detailed popups for individual accounts, API for anyone who’s looking to plug this into their own website or Roblox game, etc.

you should cache the results in the URL to avoid having to perform a search again

I’ll take a look and fix it, thanks for letting me know! I’ll also replace it with his actual username, RealKreek (I think).
@Reinitialized is carrying here.

Thanks for the idea! I was really looking into doing this, but then I thought: let’s say someone posts a URL of their degrees of separation on Twitter. After doing so, many people unfriend them, many new people add them, etc., and if someone opens that URL in say, two months, it would be displaying what’s really not the shortest friend path, or even a potentially inaccurate friend path.

Also, I wanted new users who click a shared URL to be able to see the website work live, etc., since it shows them the process, making some people intrigued to try it out on more accounts.

I will probably add an “Download image” option however, which will include the website URL and the date captured in small text.

Wow, you have some great friends!

seriously HOW does this kid know david baszucki :sob:

Doing so would count as making a search and directly prompt them to watch an ad, it wouldn’t be an idea scenario unless you increase the fpf_scan_count to 2 before prompting ads

Here’s my current logic. It only prompts them to watch an ad if they have already run a scan on the site before. It would make sense to make them watch an ad if they already ran a scan on the site before and are clicking on someone else’s share link. But if they have never used the site before, and they see their favorite content creator tweet a share link, then they’ll click it, and it doesn’t make them watch an ad (since it’s their first time using the site/running a scan). They see the results, like it, and want to test it out for themselves, and for that they will watch an ad.

I did not want to make share links fully adless, since people could abuse that by just inputting their username and then the target username into a sharelink and using that, thereby skipping the default ad prompt.

I could probably do this, just so people get an extra free scan.

At the moment, I am waiting on Google AdSense approval, and right now it just displays the template setup for AppLixir (which is another ad host company that I changed my mind on using since it’s very small and has reviews of scamming on Trustpilot). So, later today, I plan to disable the ad integration prompt and make it fully adless to use until I get Google AdSense approval.

Well, you could use this tool the other way around, and see the people you need to unfriend and avoid to stay farther away from him! Or, use it to see how close you are to accounts other than david.baszucki, like RealKreek, erik.cassel, TheRealShowspeedy, Shedletsky, etc.
Obviously, no path will exist to accounts like Roblox and builderman as those accounts have 0 friends.

Hi creator of the .xyz version of “Are you friends with David Baszucki?” Nice cool service!

What I meant is if the share link is this for example, https://friendpath.arbastro.com/s/sylmat/david.baszucki, it would run an actual scan and increment the scan count.

I didn’t find a share button so I assume the url of the scan is the “share link”.

This means that if a user comes onto the link above as a “share ink” it increments the count, basically wasting their free scan.

You could however encode the scan path and return something like https://friendpath.arbastro.com?share=f8HfbS623hK for sharing. The site could then understand the user did not run a scan, but was instead lead on the site from a share link
