Roblox is coming to smart TVs!

Also Does Toshiba Tv Support In Roblox

i have that exact remote and google TV thing. this is exciting

so, you’re asking me to use my TV remote as a Wii-mote as opposed to using the actual Wii console (hypothetically speaking, of course. I don’t own a Wii)…

Can you even use the Wii remote to play on roblox :sob:

(useless idea coming up, please don’t take this seriously)

could roblox add support for restaurants? we have to boost the amount of revenue coming from our younger audience! the way this works is by putting a literal touchscreen in every table with enough power to even run an obby game. and we make it an extra fee to take advantage of scenarios where kids forget to bring their tablets!! that way, these restaurants can make EXTRA
PROFITS
out of children that play these trending games! :smiling_face_with_tear:

Anything but bringing back chat and classic faces. Classic Roblox

Support for Apple Watches next???

Absolute tv gaming moment here

Eh.. We had more pressing concerns but I guess you are trying, I wonder if I’ll be able to play on my roku.

I feel Roblox has more issues to worry about rather than rolling out the platform on smart TV’s. I don’t see how this is Improving Roblox.

I’m a bit late to this announcement but I think it would be more impressive (and useful) to make Roblox compatible with more common devices. Such as Nintendo Switch, or reclaiming the missing PC userbase on Linux
(Linux compatibility would be especially cool for the Steam Deck)

However, Roblox on smart TVs is interesting and I’m always eager to see more devices have access to Roblox.

I 100% doubt that

yet another reason why this update is unnecessary

[Character Filler Moment]

Sounds like something we all imagined as kids. :joy:

Finally I can play games on 10 years old TV lol

Smart TVs over Linux. Do you not hear how ridiculous this sounds?

Another update

It seems that Roblox has silently launched their Google TV app on the Google Play Store. And despite the game only running at 30FPS and below, it’s quite okay. Although the move of pushing the app to the Google TV platform this early without releasing the TV API and the fact that every public experiences is accessible (despite not designed to) is something that I am very concerned about.

From the gameplay that I’ve made, I can say that it is not quite ready yet.

If you are asking me “why I am using Windows”, I am using it to capture the screen of my TV using SCRCPY via wireless debugging and the screen share was so laggy.

For those who are too lazy to watch the gameplay that I’ve made with a TCL 55P8K 4K 144Hz, here’s my “tier list” of what’s playable, okay, and unplayable.

"Performance chart (Might not reflect on other TVs)

Experiences Playability: Playable / Fair / Unplayable TV-certified? Gamepad Required?
Roblox Moments Playable Yes No
Natural Disaster Survival Fair Yes No
Easy Parkour Obby Playable Yes No
Arsenal Unplayable No Yes
Murder Mystery 2 Playable No Yes
BE A BALL Unplayable Yes Yes
Jailbreak Unplayable No Yes
Dan’s Karaoke Fair No No
Baseplate Playable No No
STEAL A BRAINROT Playable No Yes
Grow a Garden Unplayable No Yes

Some bugs and unexpected behavior found:

  • Navigation sometimes fail on In-game Settings Configuration (Occured on Steal a Brainrot)
  • Purchasing something on avatar editor does not work, it used to before.
  • It shows the Xbox Navigation despite having no controllers connected.
  • Navigating to the highlighted search is impossible when you close the On-screen Keyboard as the Back button also closing the search too.
  • Google Password Manager window (like those on Netflix when you’re logged out) no longer appears.
  • Camera and Voice Chat is still in the TV Platform. Is this intentional?
  • Chat is accessible, disabling this by default might improve performance (along with voice chat and camera animation.)

Just an update, it seems that Roblox have upscaled it to 1280x720 resolution to keep things sharp, but with the costs of sacrificing the device performance. Take note that the scaling in the TV has never been touched ever.

It would be better if we can have a resolution or refined graphics quality adjuster somewhere in the settings.
