Roblox Needs to Add Customization to the Backpack GUI

Hi Forumers, I’ve recently started working on a project with a highly customized interface, and I ran into the problem that was the current backpack GUI.

As Roblox updates almost all of their CoreGUI to fit their new style, quite a few things feel forgotten. One of the biggest things that I can think about is the backpack GUI.

My solution to this would be adding the making a BackpackService similar to TextChatService (TCS).

TCS provides developers multiple configurations to customize and allows developers the opportunity to control the way that their chat looks without extensive scripting knowledge or custom resources.

I want to hear your thoughts on this. Developers should not be forced to recode the entire CoreGUI or use Community Resources for things that are almost essential to the player’s experience of your game.

Would love for this to happen.

Honestly, just a modernization of the backpack UI would be great. The current UI still uses lots of legacy and outdated design patterns Roblox has moved away from (eg. Cyan blue on Tool selection, font used, gray background, non-round corners…)

I agree on a re-design. However, we will most likely not see the same level of customization we would get from a custom backpack system. I would instead advocate for an open source backpack model, similar to the movement scripts.
