Roblox not fully utilizing dedicated GPU, frame rate issues even with proper hardware

Recently I installed an RTX 5050 in my computer, I upgraded from an RX580. In the past, Roblox used to utilize the RX580 fully (gave around 25FPS max graphics but it makes sense because the RX580 is really old). However, I played Oakridge Nuclear Power Station on max graphics (on the new RTX5050) and it still gave me just around 28FPS.

Things that I have checked:
-Roblox is using the correct GPU (RTX5050)
-Roblox is updated to the latest version
-Graphics drivers from NVIDIA are the latest version
-There is no CPU bottleneck as CPU is only 40% utilized.

The weird part was it wasn’t utilizing the GPU or CPU fully.

I was doing some research and found that other have the same issues, you can see here (please read the comments for the full picture):

Expected behavior

I expect Roblox to utilize the dedicated GPU at around 70-80% (if the frames are low but the GPU/CPU is fully utilized then that’s expected and may just be that the GPU is too weak, however my GPU isn’t fully utilized so that is an anomaly)

I have heard that using the Microsoft store version fixes those problems and properly utilizes the GPU (links above). I haven’t tried that yet though.

This is my first time posting a bug report, so it may not be the correct category or meet standards, if so I hope you understand.

Recently there have been framerate bug reports which werent tied to the hardware you got, so make sure those aren’t the same as your problem.
The RTX 5050 is, not should, gonna give more FPS than your monitor supports certainly.

Yup, I saved up and bought it so I could get a better experience.
I did some benchmarks, GPU seems to be utilized normally on those (95 to 100) and performance matches up.

I am pretty sure it is a bug, maybe it affects everyone on all hardware?

From the other games Ive tested they all seem to be working fine, Minecraft runs pretty well at 700ish FPS

I can confirm switching to the Microsoft Store version did nothing for me, still at 35% utilization and 25fps.

Hey There!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
A ticket was filed, but we need more information about it.

Is this issue still happening at your end?
If so, please provide a Log File so we can investigate it right away!

If you need assistance or info on how to get this file, please refer to the How to Find Log Files - Bug Reports - Developer Forum | Roblox

Thanks for understanding!
Have A Nice Day!

I have obtained the logs, however I couldn’t send it to the bug files group, I got this error:

I will send a message to you instead, as I couldn’t find any other way to send it to the bug files group.

It seems that I cannot send you a message either, maybe you forgot to give me permission? I do have the log files ready to go, hopefully I can send it to you if I got the permissions.

I can confirm the new NVIDIA drivers (610.88) did not fix the issue, everything is still the same.

If you’re not given permission by now to send them the logs, do this:

  • flag your own post (the report itself) and tell you want to delete/lock it (to prevent duplicates and confusion)
  • create a new bug report using the wizard and where it says something about a private message, upload the logs and whatever more needed there
  • create the post and wait for a new response

Only do this if you haven’t moved forward with the progress.

you need to look at per thread cpu usage, not whole thing. Roblox is mostly single threaded, you should tell us what cpu you have

Ah yeah, I have an I5 11400F, which should be good enough for an RTX 5050, and the per thread usage is pretty normal, all threads are equal, like this:

I’ll probably wait a week or so before doing that, might be NVIDIA’s fault, plus it took a week for a staff member to reply so may be they just need some time.

You can manually create private messages to the bug files group that only staff may access.

https://devforum.roblox.com/g/bug-files
Just add the link to the logs somewhere in your original post and also include it to the reply you sent to the staff member.

Make sure the logs and micro-profiler are from the latest version of Roblox as well.

Thanks for your advice, I have tried that and it told me I couldn’t send the message to the group.
