I was getting ready to hop on a Roblox event on VR but whenever I try launch Roblox with SteamVR running and fully connected it just won’t launch into VR mode and I’ve tried many steps.
Steps I’ve Tried
- Reconnecting and Disabling then Enabling VR mode
- Reopened & Reinstalled SteamVR
- Changed/Trying SteamVR/OpenXR settings and resetting the settings a few time
- Updated Roblox
- Launching Roblox as a non-steam game in Steam
- Disabled & Enabled meta compatibility layer
- Ended every Roblox/VR/XR task in task manager and trying again

i am using virtual desktop.
make sure VR mode is enabled in roblox and try other games that support VR.
I downloaded virtual desktop and Roblox opens into VR mode but still annoying that it won’t detect without it. I want to use SteamVR alone as I’ve always had without requiring extra software that is paid?
Why not use Oculus Link or the native Remote Desktop application for free?
Oculus Link has the worst performance for wireless limiting fps to 0-1 so I’m never getting that again. SteamVR does it best with addons and overall with the steam library not just roblox etc
Yes, I’ve also recently noticed that. It’s very unfortunate because it used to work great for me. I assumed that maybe I just needed a better computer. Now I have to sit right in front of it using my short charging cable.
I’ve recently tried to use SteamVR to run Roblox but the desktop function doesn’t work and it just won’t run non-steam VR apps so I also have the same problem.
This just began not working for me, too.
How I did it:
First: Start both devices, opening the Virtual Desktop Streamer
Second: Open VD on my Quest
Third: Launch SteamVR on quest
Forth: Set OpenXR to SteamVR in Steam, and Virtual Desktop settings
Fifth: Open Roblox
What’s expected is that VR should work.
I’ve tried legitimately over 30 times today, and it still didn’t work.
For the record, I managed to get it working a few weeks ago with Enigma, too. Not sure why it’s refusing now.
