Roblox has always been really buggy and inconsistent with ping for me compared to other games, but lately I’ve been having a really annoying issue
My PC is connected over 5GHz WIFI using a TP Link Archer T2U Plus
When I join the exact same Roblox server on my phone and PC, with the same people in it and on the same WIFI, my phone gets around 25ms while my PC gets around 140-150ms.
At first I thought it was my WIFI adapter, so I updated it to the latest driver. Didn’t seem to make a difference.
I did some tests to see if my WIFI was actually having problems:
5GHz WIFI, channel 48
Signal is 90%, RSSI -53
Link speed is 390Mbps
Ping to my router is normally 1-3ms
Ping to 1.1.1.1 is around 5-14ms with no noticeable spikes
pathping showed 0% packet loss on the hops that responded
Roblox was only using around 13KB/s sent and 32KB/s received
I also found the Roblox server IP through netstat. A traceroute to it gets to my ISP’s network with pretty low latency, but then the rest of the hops don’t respond.
And I’m not the only one that this is happening to, I made a post on reddit and someone said they had the same issue as of recently. They said
"Iv been having a ton of ping issues recently and it’s aggravating. My internet is plenty fast and it only is happening with Roblox games…I really don’t understand why it’s such an issue that can’t be fixed. It basically makes a lot of multiplayer games completely unplayable. I’m also using Ethernet on my PC. Mobile however is fine for whatever reason.. "
