When selecting an experience, either through the Roblox Player itself or through the Roblox website, the Roblox Player exe does not show up at all for me to select, only showing alongside the crash handler in Task Manager. Rarely will an experience properly open without any changes from my side, however the amount of time it takes for the experience to open is severely longer than usual.
This issue has been happening since ~7pm est of 11/20/2025, beforehand I was able to play any Roblox experience without these issue. A reinstallation of the Roblox Player does not solve this issue.
Intel i5 @ 2.90GHz, 16GB, Radeon RX 580
Expected behavior
I expect the Roblox player to open an experience of my choosing without delayed loading time and without these silent “crashes” occurring.
I’ve also been having this problem for the past couple of days. It happened randomly while I was actually playing an experience. I join an experience and nothing pops up except on the task manager and then it closes. It does the same thing with the Windows Store version and browser version. The only way I can play is to open the Roblox Player and hope that doesn’t crash, click on an experience, wait 15-20 seconds, and hope it doesn’t crash the app. I’ve tried so many solutions like reinstalling, updating drivers, updating network adapter, deleting different apps, disabling antivirus and firewall, and opening local ports.
Had this since the update a few days ago as well, I pretty much have to continuously hit play multiple times for even a chance to get into an experience. Even then it’s just relying on luck whether it works or not and will either not show up within Task Manager whatsoever, or it’ll just silently crash. Few other people have told me that they haven’t had this issue at all so can’t really figure out what the problem is myself.
I found I had this exact same issue for a short time where Roblox would crash prematurely when attempting to load the RobloxPlayer home screen.
What worked for me was going into RobloxPlayerBeta properties of your current version via opening file location and enabling fullscreen optimisations as well as forcing Run as Administrator.
I noticed after I did this, the roblox client would run correctly again but refuses to run correctly (i.e. just is fully stuck on the Home screen and freezing up preventing any user from interacting with the UI) without enabling these properties.
This didn’t really change my situation, unfortunately, it’ll still crash despite those settings.
I will say that using the actual Roblox Player does give me a better chance at actually being able to play a Roblox experience without it crashing immediately.
Have been having this issue since the migration from RobloxPlayerLauncher.exe to RobloxPlayerInstaller.exe happened. I suspect this is due to improper handling of spaced Windows usernames, in my case.
The only workaround I’ve found is downloading and running the installer manually seems to do the trick, at least until there’s a new Roblox deploy to install. Then the process must be repeated.
It looks like there’s a compatibility issue with software running on your PC and Roblox. In your specific case, it seems to be related to virtualdesktop_openxr. Can you try to temporarily uninstall Virtual Desktop Streamer (C:\Program Files\Virtual Desktop Streamer) and see if it starts working for you again?
This actually solved my problem! After deleting the folder it seemed to have completely fixed it. I can’t say for the others, but this is the solution for me.
I uninstalled Virtual Desktop and removed the folder. Experiences loaded through the Roblox Player itself load flawlessly now without any crashing!
However, loading experiences through the website seems to hang before prompting an error 279 (This seems to be for any experience, but I’ll leave an example screenshot below). I’m unsure if this is related to the issue in this report or a separate one.
I’ve had Virtual Desktop installed on my PC for years and only recently has this caused an issue with Roblox, I really hope this means it can be fixed on Roblox’s end as this is the only way for me to utilize VR on my Quest 2 at the moment..
If you end up re-installing Virtual Desktop, you may be able to get around the issue by setting SteamVR as your default OpenXR runtime in the Virtual Desktop Streamer program.
While we don’t official support Virtual Desktop, we are communicating with the VD developers to try to fully resolve our compatibility issues.
Unfortunately this does not seem to work, I’ll have to keep uninstalling/reinstalling when the time comes until there’s a fix from either Roblox’s or VD’s side
I’m really happy to hear this is the case and I hope to hear back from someone soon regarding this!
I noticed there was an update for Virtual Desktop and it seems like I can now open Roblox experiences without interruption like before! I’ll mark this reply as a solution as it seems this bug has been fixed on VD’s side.
Thank you again for getting this situated in a timely manner, it’s very appreciated!!
