Roblox refuses to launch no matter which method I choose, either from joining a game from the website or even launching the Roblox desktop app.
I’ve tried some different methods to see if my issue gets fixed, which all methods didn’t. I’ve tried deleting cookies, reinstalling Roblox, using a 3rd-party launcher like Fishstrap/Bloxstrap, and scanning my PC to check for any malware.
Here’s my computer specs just in case:
11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i5-11400H @ 2.70GHz (2.69 GHz),
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 with Max-Q Design,
16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable) of DDR4
Windows 11 Home 25H2 26200.6899
For a better understanding, here’s a recording of my trying to launch via the browser and app:
Expected behavior
Roblox should launch as normal, on both Fishstrap/Bloxstrap as well as launching on the Roblox app.

uhhh, go into the roblox folder and maybe delete the old versions of roblox and try to reinstall
It didn’t work, reinstalled on both and same issue still arises.
you tried without fishtrap already right?
Yup, that’s what I did first; reinstalled the main client.
I found out a solution: I’m pretty sure that Roblox (at least on my PC) won’t launch with Direct3D but will work with Vulkan. I’ll test out my normal client to see if that would launch.
** UDPATE: Roblox (normal client) won’t launch on my PC, so I think its either Roblox that is causing this issue or my Direct3D is corrupted in some parts.
** UPDATE 2: Using Fishstrap, Vulkan does allow me to get to the player. However, whenever I try to join in a game with my friends, it crashes after a few seconds.

did you try dx11? also idk if roblox still supports it but im pretty sure the do.
I have had a problem with Roblox refusing to launch for several years now. The reason this happens is because Roblox wants to push the Roblox app onto everyone and they don’t want people to launch games from the website, but from the desktop app. So they break it intentionally and make it look like a bug so people are forced to use the Roblox app to launch games, making them eventually get used to it and stop using the site.
Here’s how I fixed it (and still have to continuously fix it because it keeps coming back after every update):
- Find to the Roblox install location (should be under Program Files (x86) → Roblox → Versions)
- Copy the name of the folder that contains the Roblox files and RobloxPlayerBeta.exe (example: version-1a2b3c4d5c6e7f)
- In the registry editor, go to:
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\roblox-player\shell\open\command
- There should be 2 files:
version and (Default)
If the value in (Default) doesn’t match the Roblox install location, and/or if the value in version doesn’t match the name of the Roblox install folder, then there’s your problem.
Otherwise that’s not it and you have a different problem and you can ignore this.
- Replace the value in
version with the name of the actual Roblox install folder and replace only the version-xxx part in (Default) with the actual Roblox install folder name and keep everything else the way it is.
Roblox should now launch.
