There seems to be a lot of people in this thread who misunderstand the whole political aspect of this. You see, Twitter, regardless of the content on the site, is SEEN as a site with a large extremist userbase. Even if it didn’t have any extremist content, the site still has a reputation of such. The site being owned by a now-politicized figure who works for the government only adds on to this. It makes sense for why people would be uncomfortable with having X/Twitter have links allowed on the platform. It’s not about what is actually on the platform, it’s about the reputation.
I would also like to point out that Twitter/X has indeed gotten in legal trouble with various countries for the reasons stated above. A lot of countries have more strict laws on platforms and how they handle extremist content compared to the United States.
Bluesky has 3 million active a month compared to X having 586-611 million users active a month.
AOL alleges they have like 20 million active a month still.
Bluesky seems like it was kind of astroturfed to popularity but its success seems to be kind of short lived as numbers continue to decline.
That’s still over 300 million. Thats a lot, lot more than Bluesky.
Adding on to this, and take it with a grain of salt: AI believes around 44 percent of all accounts active on Bluesky monthly are bots.
I just feel like it isn’t big enough to be added.
I’m not sure what bluesky’s exact statistics look like (even though that twitter article is also just a guess realistically) but my experience has been far better in terms of not being forcefed political slop which aligns with elon’s agenda and the bots.
Roblox actually has a Bluesky account, they just haven’t done anything with it yet. So it’s possible that they might be considering this, but no guarantees.
That would still be 112 million real users. Bluesky gets less traffic than AOL. In my opinion, removing X would be better than adding BlueSky.
I can’t speak for everyone, but when I used it (I quit all social media in December) , right around election season, all I saw was memes and cats. Nothing political besides a cat that looked like Millard Fillmore.
other countries banning twitter is because they do not like free speech. Roblox will not remove X because you are a bluesky user that hates X. As someone who does not use both what you are asking for is ridiculous and a non feature / downgrade. If you want to force people to use bluesky, you’re not going to do it through roblox.
wikipedia is biased. Their secondary source focused policy remove primary sources and add secondary sources reacting to the primary sources. Basically if the publication the admins like didn’t react to your source you have a weak source for non informative articles. You cannot cite a youtube video, you have to cite an article by some journalist providing a spin on the video. If you try to provide a different point of view your edit will get reverted and eventually your account will get restricted / banned by admins, if you keep insisting. This is why the idea of wikipedia being balanced is false.
Is there any human analysis that supports this claim though? I wouldn’t put much weight in an AI being able to reliably analyse data in any meaningful way.
After doing a small bit of digging, I found at one point, somebody estimated 90 percent of all accounts were bots. It’s hard to say an exact number. Regardless, BlueSky just isn’t a big site. I feel like the solution is to just get rid of X, if it’s as political as described here. (personally, when I used it up until December, I didn’t really see anything political but things May have changed)
I actually decided to load BlueSky and go to the trending page, I scrolled through around 30 images, 2 were posting advocating for violence against Tesla Owners, 3 animal related ones, a basketball one, four scientific studies and the rest were politics.
I then used a website tracking twitter trends and found the majority of topics trending on twitter related to actors, the UFC, and pop culture.
In terms of Bluesky, it isn’t that hard to actually get an exact number, because unlike Twitter or other social media platforms, Bluesky is built upon ATProtocol which gives you transparent and unrestricted access to viewing all public data & accounts on the network. Someone could easily download everything and run analysis on it if they wanted to.
The issue with Twitter/X here isn’t just that it is inherently political, it’s that its algorithm by design uses misinformation to push an ideology that is inherently harmful. The same cannot be said for Bluesky.
Politics cannot be completely eradicated from any community that allows self-expression in any meaningful way, but we can prevent damage from being done to developing minds.
To pick sides (eg “x is bad, bluesky better”) completely misses the point. Both platforms are ideological battlegrounds that foster extremism, and neither offers a truly neutral nor safe space.
Roblox is primarily used by children and teens, not politicians.
Injecting certain types of hot-button political discourse onto a platform meant for creativity, enjoyment, and learning creates division, and potentially psychological harm.
The argument isn’t that politics should be eradicated, but that roblox remains politically neutral as it’s a platform for youth. Both media platforms are prime examples of how social media, regardless of orientation, can be harmful to kids due to the spread of extreme ideologies and insensitivity.
Bluesky is not a safer alternative, it’s just leaning towards the polar opposite of the extremism. Replacing one ideology with another doesn’t protect users, it just generates a different bias.
Neither platform is appropriate for roblox.
Roblox should avoid integrating platforms that invite division or links that are known to host adult or political content in general.
