Roblox Studio causes kernel panic (watchdog timeout) on Apple Silicon Mac

Hi everyone,

I’m having serious issues running Roblox Studio on my Apple Silicon Mac (M3). After around 10–15 minutes of use, my entire computer freezes and then forcefully reboots. I’m getting a kernel panic with this message:

panic(cpu 0 caller ...): watchdog timeout: no checkins from watchdogd in 91 seconds
Panicked task: pid 0: kernel_task

This happens consistently, even when doing basic stuff (no Play test, no heavy models).
I’ve tried:

  • Full reinstall of Roblox Studio
  • Switching Graphics Mode to OpenGL
  • Closing apps like Chrome, Discord, OBS etc.

The panic always points to AppleInterruptControllerV3 and AppleARMWatchdogTimer. Looks like some low-level process hangs (probably GPU-related?).

Has anyone else experienced this? Any workarounds? Is there a way to run Studio via Rosetta? (My build seems Apple Silicon only.)

Thanks!
