I am reporting this issue on behalf of one of our developers, who is currently unable to use Roblox Studio at all on their machine.
As of 28 November 2025, Roblox Studio began closing itself during startup. Studio displays the initial loading spinner, the spinner freezes, and then Studio shuts down with no error message or crash dialog. This occurs 100% of the time and prevents the developer from opening any experience - including completely blank places.
This issue is now blocking their ability to work on an ongoing project.
Steps to reproduce (as observed on the affected machine)
Launch Roblox Studio from desktop/start menu
The initial loading UI appears with a spinner.
After a short time, the spinner freezes.
Roblox Studio closes by itself with no error message.
The issue occurs even when attempting to create a new blank/baseplate place.
Troubleshooting already attempted by the developer
Fully uninstalled and reinstalled Roblox Studio.
Updated NVIDIA GPU drivers.
Restarted and fully shut down the PC.
Attempted to open multiple experiences, including new blank places.
Confirmed that Roblox Player still functions normally.
None of these steps resolved the issue.
System Information (from logs) will get them to get more information on their return from holiday
OS: Windows (64-bit) – full details in attached log
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
GPU driver: nvldumdx.dll 32.0.15.6094
RAM: 32 GB
Studio version: 0.700.0.7000935
Full RobloxStudio log from the affected sessions is included in the staff-only field.
Beta features (from log output)
Exact enabled/disabled states can be provided if required.
Expected behavior
Roblox Studio should fully open to the main interface after the loading sequence completes, allowing the developer to open or create places normally. If an issue occurs, an error message or dialog should appear instead of Studio closing silently.
Hi there, I’ve just checked with the Dev and can confirm this is still and issue and occurs when they are trying to either open an existing place or create a new one.
Hi, please try fully uninstalling Studio and reinstalling with a freshly downloaded copy of the installer. We have had some indicators that if the installer is old enough there can be unintended issues with upgrades/installs. This has been patched, but this will help eliminate one possibility.
Hi there, they have followed the instructions and done a full uninstall of ROBLOX studio and player, downloaded via a fresh .exe from the website, and are still getting the same result.
We cannot reproduce this locally, and unfortunately the log provided also doesn’t provide additional information to help pinpoint the issue…
Is it possible making a screen recording to illustrate the issue? From the original post, “Roblox Studio began closing itself during startup”, but from the log, it seems we are trying to open a place?
Does this happen all the time for you or intermittently?
From that log provided, it seems this can happen when BasePlate is opened, just want to confirm that with you
Can we try to uninstall all plugins and see if this issue persist?
If not can we try to do a Reset Layout (open a place, and then Windows->Reset Layout, if this issue blocks you from opening any place, you can launch Studio from commandline and use the -resetLayout flag: i,e, C:\Users\charl\AppData\Local\Roblox\Versions\version-d638b440a9224bb2\RobloxStudioBeta.exe -resetLayout), In the newly launched Studio, you should see that -resetLayout being passed in as argument as well as the following log “Docking layout settings have been reset after restarting Studio”.
While doing any of these, if there is any dmp file generated (it will be inside the logs/crashes folder), can you please DM those as well
Do you guys have any peripherals device attached to the problematic computer? Can you try to remove all of them and restart computer to try again?
Also in addition to that, I wonder if you try to log in with the same user on a different computer, do we also see the crash? (I would assume not but want to just double check)
