ROBLOX Studio Completely Broken?

I hadn’t updated my ROBLOX Studio in a while, around 2 months ago I finally got around to getting it on the latest version. Now it’s unable to open, at all.

I get the loading popup, and then it just crashes/closes itself. I don’t even get an error message popup, it just loads for a couple of seconds and then closes. It’s really strange. I checked with Task Manager before, and it’s not even running in the background or anything.

I tried reinstalling it, but that only seemed to fix it for the day, because it ended up relapsing back into its broken state again somehow the next time I tried to open it.

Try launching it as administrator; had this issue a couple of months ago, and doing that fixed it.

If that does not work, fully delete the Roblox folder:
Open File Explorer
Type %localappdata%
Locate the folder titled ‘Roblox’ and delete it.
Fully reinstall Roblox & Roblox Studio

Delete all of the associated AppData and registry keys for Roblox.

If anyone here is still having issues, delete the registry key Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Roblox\RobloxStudio\LayoutSettings in regedit. This will reset your studio layout and will most likely fix the problem. Edit: If you are having another issue that is not fixed after deleting this key, try deleting the higher up RobloxStudio key.

Delete the entire Roblox key, not just Studio or LayoutSettings.

AppData is stored in %LocalAppData%. Logs (but usually nothing important) are in %AppData%.

I didn’t respond for a couple days, wanting to make sure my ROBLOX Studio was in the clear. Deleting the AppData and registry keys worked like a charm! Thanks to both of you. Sometimes the best solutions really are the easiest ones.

For anyone else who is lurking and may have this very same problem in the future, try using Revo Uninstaller. It’ll make this process easier. Try it on either the safe or moderate setting (only use the advanced one if you’re experienced with Revo or at least know what you’re doing) on your ROBLOX if it and/or studio ever break like mine did. Then you delete all of the items in bold only.
