FAQ

What is 2.0?
-2.0 is a version update to Roblox Titanic. Ever since Roblox Titanic replaced what is now Roblox Titanic Classic in January 2016, the updates have gone from 1.0 to 1.999. This will be the most dramatic update since the replacement of Roblox Titanic Classic. The step from Classic to HD 1.0 will be seen as the same if not less dramatic than the step-up from HD 1.0 to HD 2.0

What is in the 2.0 update?
-A reimagined ship model for a better gameplay experience. The ship is smaller and scaled more realistically. The modeling has vastly improved to be more efficient with rendering, while conveying more detail. This update will allow all platforms Roblox provides to enjoy the gameplay with no game-breaking lag.

Will 2.0 lag?
-No, even with more visual appeal, the 2.0 ship is 4-7x more efficient than the current HD model with rendering (the cause of lag currently)

Will 2.0 Alpha be paid access? (in-between announcement time and full release)
-No, it will be a closed testing place with a select few, do not ask to be in it, or you will automatically not be considered. We can only work in peace, we will be looking for fans that are able to contain themselves, and not try to push unrealistic standards onto us given our time table.

Will my purchases of gamepasses and points transfer to 2.0?
-Yes, 2.0 replaces the current ship and iceberg with upgraded versions. All stats will stay the same as the last time you play V1.0 before 2.0.

I have the original T-shirts created in 2009, will those work in 2.0?
-They will not give you the gamepass powers, but they will be converted into points. If you had the Captain shirt → 10k Points. Crew → 5k Points. First Class → 2k Points, all of these give more Robux value for the points you get than the original T-Shirt cost you since 2009. Also, the classic Titanic game still exists, and will not be removed. We appreciate the players who upgrade to the new gamepasses!

The Crew Member and Captain gamepass will both increase in price by 16.67% during the 2.0 update

What about a Roblox Titanic real time server?
-It would be a place within the Roblox Titanic universe that you get to through playing Roblox Titanic.
-It would happen in an update after 2.0 and before 3.0

Will Lifeboats Launch Automatically in 2.0?
-No, they will be player launched, same requirements as now

Will there be the 2012 sinking method?
-Yes, the game will have the same exact voting system as current, so you may choose the next round’s sinking method still.

Will there be terrain water?
-No, not in the initial 2.0 update. We will look into adding terrain water in-between 2.0 and ‘3.0’

Will the lifeboat launching system be changed at all in 2.0?
-Yes, we hope to make it more realistic! We can show snippets of what is to come, stay tuned

How does the boiler room flood?
-2.0 features a boiler room that is underneath the ocean level water, like the real Titanic boiler room was. This means part of the orlop deck is in 2.0. We rise flood waters inside the boiler room until it converges with the ocean level water, then it continues to sink similar to currently, but 2.0 style.

Will there be realistic lighting?
The default lighting will always remain brighter than the reality, because no one wants to play a game where you can’t see much as the default lighting setting.

How many lifeboats will be in 2.0?
-There will be the same amount as currently, and the same player counts for servers.

What are the planned interiors for 2.0?
-Some of these interiors are subject to change (green = 90% sure it will be in, yellow = 10% sure it will be in 2.0 initial), As you can see some interiors are prioritized in the event that it does not get finished. Please respect our choice.
-Keep in mind subsequent updates can add more interior.

Scripting Progress Log:

JUST GETTING STARTED: Week of 4-23-18 to 4-27-18:

-Because of the smaller ship, all walkspeeds and sprint speeds were nerfed proportionally to the difference in ship size.

-The boiler room now has rising flood waters that converge with the ocean level as the ship begins to sink. During this time all swimming tools respect the flood water if you are in the boiler room, or the ocean level if you are not.

-The sinking method dubbed ‘Rtanic sinking method’ is done. This sinking method is not meant to be taken literally, it’s inspired by 1997 ‘Titanic’. Here is a sneak peak of the cracking sequence from this method

SINKING THE SHIP OUTLINE: Week of 4-30-18 to 5-4-18:

-Both methods of sinking that you can vote on are completed. Awaiting the more fleshed out ship model.

-2.0 will feature much better final plunge stability for your character. See gif as the stern angle rises to 90 degrees, the character is able to stay in the same place

-Iceberg physics tested, super smooth to create the immersion that the ship is the one moving. You can also hop on the iceberg as it passes and walk around, ragdoll to slide off it, etc.

-Inyo has worked on the cracking section. This section will collapse and break apart as the ship cracks in half.

FANCY EFFECTS EVERYWHERE: Week of 5-21-18 to 5-25-18:

-There is now funnel smoke and steam at the correct times during the sinking

-The funnels now fall, (this is with a 10X sinking simulation speed, in real game time, the funnel shall not look like it is floating while falling)
