Robloxian Warriors Development: Help Wanted!

Hey!

I’m theplushedguy3; I’m a solo developer who has been on Roblox since late 2016 and has been interested in game development on the platform since mid-2017.

I’ve been working on a project I’ve started since mid-2018 titled Robloxian Warriors. It’s a MMORPG with a very in-depth story [at least I think it is], though sadly it’s currently in Pre-Alpha stages and much of the content is not within the game yet, so lack of content and many unseen glitches and bugs are to be expected.

To put it simply, I would very much appreciate some feedback on my game: gameplay, UI, visuals, etc. Currently, this is an available mode in the game called Warfare Mode, the multiplayer round-based mode. There’s a lot of content in there that can be tested and be given feedback on, and the gameplay would be much more exciting with some players to play with [preferrably 10 players or greater]. Outside of that, the starting area of the game is the “hub” area, though nothing much is happening in there, but some feedback on how to improve it would also be appreciated!

Also, please include as much detail as possible in your criticism as I need to pinpoint what it is I need to improve on!

Thank you so much for reading this post. Please check out my game if you’re willing to help with anything! I will take as much of your criticism into consideration as possible.

These are first impressions, typed as thoughts came to me.

When I first load in, the loading percentage on the lower left goes out to ridiculous decimal places sometimes. Make that percent thing an integer.

When I first spawn in I have no idea what’s going on. A little onboarding GUI would be helpful.

The terminal doesn’t appear to do anything.

Music is chill, I like it.

The terrain hill behind the purple and white crystals is just terrible and ugly. It looks too rectangular.

In general the spawn area is pretty, but I feel you could halve its size without losing much because a lot of the space is just grass.

“Clicking on interactables is the main interaction functionality of the game” is clunky phrasing. Maybe something closer to “Clicking on things will be your main way to interact with the world.” but even that could be made better.

It said click on the teleportation crystals, but only the purple left one seemed to do anything.

After clicking it, it seemed to me that the menu it brought up should’ve been the first thing I saw rather than the little nature spawn area.

The lightning staff is pretty neat but the sound for it doesn’t really seem to match the idea of ‘lightning’ and it sounds weird when rapidly clicked. Also rather than a 60/60 to show its uses, a bar would probably look better. Rather than reloading it like a gun I’d recommend being able to hold down r to slowly charge its uses back up.

I had a buddy hop on so I could test the game itself.

I noticed when I spawned on the map I had guns. The sounds for them were really messed up (playing multiple times, stopping prematurely) and it seemed weird that their capacity was 9999/9999 when the lightning staff was 60. It seems weird for the guns to even show a capacity of 9999/9999. If you really want them to be infinite I’d replace that with an infinity sign.

The lightning staff and guns didn’t seem to fit together at all.

I noticed the lightning beam changed color to reflect my team color but the gun rays stayed yellow. Didn’t like that.

Your clock GUI is nice.

Hey!

Thank you for your criticism, Hayden.

The stuff you’ve experienced is a result of me not updating the game to its current state. I should’ve considered these factors you have mentioned before pushing out this post. Yes, the things I do may be confusing to other players, and I shall try to work on that in the future.

As for the things you mentioned:

  • The Lightning Staff was in your inventory because I wanted to test out the mechanics to see if I needed any optimizing. Yeah, maybe its reloading could use some work [not the ammo display because I don’t think I should change that.]
  • The guns and Lightning Staff are a few of many of the different Gears you can battle with. I know they’re not meant to “fit together”, but it’s from the choices you make.
  • Yeah, that phrasing could be changed.
  • The starting area, like I said, does need some rework. I understand where you’re coming from with that.
  • The gun rays aren’t actually meant to reflect that of your team’s color. To make up for this, there will be an indicator on all of your allies indicating that they’re your teammates, so there will be less difficulty differentiating.
  • The guns excessive ammo capacity was a result of me feeling unmotivated to implement a reloading system, thus having 9999 ammo per respawn.
  • My taste in sound, unfortunately, is not up to par, so forgive me if the sounds I choose weren’t pleasant to the ears. The sounds emitted from the guns were a result of a bug; fortunately, that has been resolved in the current version of the game!
  • The Terminal is currently turned off because it is under construction.
  • The loading percentage; I forgot to round the decimals to a whole number [that has been resolved].
  • I’ll implement a tutorial when I have the chance.

Once again, Hayden, thank you so much for you and your friend for helping me out with the game! I am beyond excited for what my game has to offer now that your feedback will help me improve it.

I’m glad I could help : )

I know how hard it can be to find motivation as a solo developer, so have my encouragement.
