Last week, my game Titanic SOS was taken down for allegedly violating Roblox’s “Real-World Sensitive Events” policy.
I believe this moderation action was incorrect, and I am asking Roblox to restore Titanic SOS.
Titanic SOS is a historical simulation based on the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912. It is not a game based on a recent sensitive event, nor was it created to exploit or sensationalize a tragedy.
What makes this removal especially difficult to justify is that Titanic SOS appears to be the only major Titanic game affected by this enforcement.
‘Roblox Titanic’ by @TheAmazeman remains available and has existed on Roblox since 2009. It has been openly available on the platform for many years, still is, and was even included in the 2019 Egg Hunt.
If depicting the Titanic itself violates the “Real-World Sensitive Events” policy, then the continued availability of other Titanic games makes the enforcement against Titanic SOS inconsistent. If Titanic experiences are allowed, then Titanic SOS should not have been removed in the first place.
What makes this even more concerning is what happened after Titanic SOS had already been taken down.
After the game was removed, I received another warning for the same game, followed by a 1-day account ban, despite the game already being unavailable. To me, this makes it clear that the enforcement was being triggered automatically rather than through an actual manual review of Titanic SOS.
I have also submitted six appeals, and all six have been denied through what appears to be the same AI powered moderation process.
At this point, I have had the game taken down, received additional enforcement after it was already taken down, received a 1-day ban, and had six appeals denied without any indication that the game itself was ever manually reviewed.
This strongly reinforces my belief that Titanic SOS was caught in an automated enforcement mistake.
I have been developing Titanic games on Roblox for 11 years. Titanic SOS is the result of those 11 years of development, experience, and continued work. Having the game removed through an AI automated enforcement action, while comparable Titanic games remain untouched, is extremely frustrating.
The Titanic is a historical event that occurred more than a century ago. Historical event simulations have existed across games, films, museums, documentaries, and educational media for decades. The story of the Titanic is widely taught in school as well.
If Titanic SOS qualifies for removal under this policy, then the same reasoning could seemingly apply to games that cover WW1, WW2, or countless other historical disasters. That is why I do not believe this policy was correctly applied to Titanic SOS.
My main request is simple:
Please manually review the moderation against Titanic SOS and restore the game.
I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for the game to receive an actual manual review and to be treated consistently with the other Titanic games that Roblox continues to allow on the platform.
After 11 years of working on Titanic games, I do not believe Titanic SOS should disappear because of an incorrectly applied automated moderation action, especially while Roblox continues to allow and has previously promoted the exact same kind of game on the platform.
Titanic SOS should be restored.
