I have been experiencing this issue for a couple weeks already, but it never crossed my mind to report it as a bug.
The title is pretty self-explanatory, I’m unable to send messages that contain a select group of words prefixed with the letters ‘ig’ (e.g. ignore, ignition), but it seems like other words that fit this criteria (igloo) are unaffected. I would imagine that this was done as a way to stop users from mentioning platforms like Instagram, which is commonly referred to as just ‘IG’, but I believe it wasn’t the goal to throw unrelated words into jeopardy.
Reproducing the error should be straightforward, under regular chat restrictions, attempt to send a message using the two example words I listed or even attempt to contextualize them within a sentence.

“ig” also means Instagram. After all that drama and controversy about Roblox’s safety and moderation, especially about adults directing minors to other platforms, I think they shouldn’t make any filter changes here.

Sure, I can understand blocking the word ‘ig’ by itself, and you’ll see that I never implied that’s the issue that should be addressed.
My issue is: real words such as ‘ignore’ shouldn’t be blocked just because they contain the letters ‘ig’.
As I said before, I don’t believe this move was aimed at tackling any issue and seems like a bug instead, as testing the other first word that is prefixed with ‘ig’ (igloo) didn’t seem to flag my message.
I wish to keep this topic on-topic, but I also don’t think that string-matching chat filters have a place on Roblox or any other game of its nature, and I’m aware that this isn’t the case, but some restrictions very much resemble that, while they have the moderation software capable to be tweaked to do a better job. It’s parallel with, for instance, passing a gun control law that just outlawed explicitly asking/showing interest through verbal means on buying a gun, and nothing else. For it to fit the hypothetical scenario, people are charged in the exact moment a crime happens, no matter what. People would still buy them, because the law did not make any attempt to address other behavior that is associated with the process, not even counting the loopholes in idiom that can be achieved.
In other words, I believe Roblox should tackle this issue of platform redirection and others with heuristics, rather than “pre-configured word equals bad”, it’s already cliche to say that “the world is evolving at a pace never seen before”, but it’s true, bad actors can find ways around those restriction almost instantly, it’s like a roadblock on a sidewalk. But those dangerous verbal interactions still have strong patterns which could be picked up by a rugged moderation tool.
Looping back to the initial point and issue, are words like “ignore” and “ignition” (but not igloo) mistakenly being flagged or is that intended?
Bump. This still happens. Words like “ignited” and “iguana” also get tagged. And saying “ignore” with the quotes doesn’t block it in chat, or at least it hasn’t the last time I needed to use that word. Very annoying because I sometimes type longer messages forgetting this then needing to retype my message
they closed the report, so there probably won’t be any changes here
