Hey all! I’ve begun work on my latest project, SPAWN POINT. It’s going to be a dungeon crawler about drawing runes (aka spells) to cast them and use on enemies or puzzles. The testing version, however, is a physics sandbox with spells to mess around with. I’d like ideas on runes and what they could do!
In the video, you can see I draw something similar to the well-known SpawnLocation icon. This rune is detected and the spell is casted (the Spawn Point spell respawns my character). The second rune I draw currently does nothing.
After playing with it for a few seconds, it seems very incorrect in recognizing the drawn patterns. I’m no artist, but I draw a triangle, and it keeps casting Pandora’s box. And other failures to properly spell cast. Maybe I’m just not built for magic
A little late but this is actually a very cool idea, it reminds me of those old android passwords where you draw a pattern in a line. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this.
I think to improve the drawing, you could use a grid to place the squares instead of putting them where the mouse is. This would probably make image recognition easier as well.
