SCP: Area-02 Team Guide

Hello, and welcome to the SCP: Area-02 Team Guide.

Controls: This guide uses keyboard and mouse labels such as E and M1 . On another device, follow the equivalent on-screen prompt.
Access: Some teams require a game pass. Mobile Task Force NU-7 can also be unlocked for free by reaching level 16 on Security Department.
Game mechanics may change over time. If an in-game prompt differs from this guide, follow the current prompt. We will do our best to update this as time goes on.

Foundation and Opposing Teams

Class-D (Free)

Your role: You are a test subject inside the Foundation. You can cooperate with staff, look for an escape route, or turn against the facility.

Your first steps

  1. Decide how you want to play: wait for testing, visit Medical, attempt an escape, or seek out the Chaos Insurgency.
  2. If a scientist authorizes you, follow their directions into the facility for testing.
  3. If you choose to escape, find exits throughout the facility and find the Chaos Insurgency spawn to become one of them.
  4. If you reach the Chaos Insurgency, take up arms and help fight the Foundation.

Choose this team if: You want a flexible role with several possible paths instead of one fixed objective.

Scientific Department (Free)

Your role: You conduct tests on anomalies using Class-D personnel as test subjects.

Your first steps

  1. Go to the Class-D confinement zone.
  2. Equip the Authorize tool and click a Class-D player. Authorization allows them to enter the facility without being terminated by Security.
  3. Escort the authorized Class-D player to the anomaly you want to study.
  4. Run your test, observe what happens, and then return the Class-D player to confinement or terminate them.

Key mechanic: Coordinate with Security when you need an escort or the route is unsafe.

Choose this team if: You enjoy structured roleplay, experiments, and leading other players through an objective.

Medical Department (Free)

Your role: You keep Foundation personnel healthy through checkups and direct healing.

Your first steps

  1. Choose between running medical checkups or supporting active operations as a combat medic.
  2. For a Class-D checkup, authorize the player and escort them to the medical bay.
  3. To heal an injured player, equip your med kit and hold M1 while targeting them.
  4. Equip your tablet to find an approximate location of players that need help, if you are level 6+ you can use the building plan to place a bandage box containing x2 bandages for site personnel to take from to heal.

Trauma Team: Serves as the foundation’s rapid-response emergency medical unit and specializes in life-saving care capable of healing critical injuries. This team is unlocked when you reach level 16 in the Medical Department.

Includes:

  • Bandage box (x2) which allows personnel to take bandages for healing (also available on MD level 6+)
  • Health emitter (x1) which allows personnel within its radius to be healed at a fast rate

Choose this team if: You prefer a support role and want to help other teams stay in the fight.

Technical Department (Free)

Your role: You repair and maintain the facility’s power, doors, and overall structural integrity.

Your first steps

  1. Equip the Hammer after spawning. It is your main repair tool.
  2. Look for damaged water pipes, generators, doors, and holes blasted into walls by the Chaos Insurgency.
  3. For pipes, generators, and SCP-409 air ducts, hold E while holding the Hammer.
  4. For damaged walls, strike the wall repeatedly with the Hammer until it is repaired.
  5. Utilize your mop and sponge to clean up the facility’s puddles and graffiti.

Note: Doors are health based.

Key mechanics

  • Water pipes support the Mobile Task Force water cannons and the facility sprinkler system.
  • Generators provide power to their sector, so repairing them can restore important systems.

Security Department (Free)

Your role: You protect personnel, escort tests, control riots, and fight the Chaos Insurgency on the front line.

Your first steps

  2. Escort Scientific and Medical personnel when they move Class-D players through the facility.
  3. Respond to Class-D riots and Chaos Insurgency raids.
  4. Stay near teammates and protect support personnel instead of chasing every fight alone.

Key mechanic: Reach level 16 on Security Department to unlock Mobile Task Force NU-7 for free.

Choose this team if: You want direct combat with clear defensive and escort responsibilities.

Chaos Insurgency (Free)

Your role: You raid Area-02, disrupt Foundation operations, and use breached anomalies to create wider chaos. Each role in the team grants stronger fire power up to explosives to break into the facility.

Your first steps

  1. Leave the mine spawn and choose an entry route.
  2. Use Sector 1 for a quieter approach, or blast through the Class-D confinement wall for a direct assault.
  3. Once inside, fight facility combat teams, interfere with operations such as destroying doors or destroying generators turning off power in a sector, or recruit breached anomalies to increase the disruption.
  4. Work with other Insurgency players when possible. A coordinated raid is harder for the Foundation to contain.
