Scripting Turorial: Intro

Hello Everyone I am @Thenoob2pro_2022 and I have been a scripter on Roblox for 4 1/2 years as of August. Even though I have previously gotten into the forum I get asked a lot about scripting how to do it and how to learn at a decent rate. So today I bring to you the intro of a completed set of what I like to call Beginner Scripting

I’ll make a post eventually as a “hub” to all the lessons and in every post I’ll post the previous lessons. ** Note: the text below has nothing to do with scripting but more of an intro step by step on how to learn by watching YouTube videos**that by taking a poll has actually come out as useful and that I would like to share with you. Even though I am self taught and everything Ill be teaching you works and might not fully match with the videos. YouTube is a great site for 24 hour help. Even though I prefer and advise to be self taught and use YouTube more as a support website there are many successful developers who learned by YouTube.

So without further or do here is the system that works if you would rather learn by YouTube enjoy and please post your feedback below it helps me edit this topic later for those who might read it later.

Thanks
@Thenoob2pro_2022

Again even though I will take you on my personal “self taught” beginners course the YouTube Route is another way for those who would rather watch them read

So to begin you must first do the Starter Steps

Starting Steps

Don’t Give Up: There is no failure in any sort of development that’s why you test the game. The only real failure is giving up

Make sure you do it everyday and have time Just like with doing anything else like learning a subject in school you go almost everyday and you learn it. You also need time especially if you do it by YouTube Videos. I advise taking 45-60 minutes 4/7 days of the week to do coding nothing but coding. I promise you will see progress

If you don’t do the starter steps either A) you will never learn (aka giving up) or B) it will take a long long long time (aka point 2)

Step 1: Start off by choosing a YouTuber. You can and I advise watch them all but as a new Scripter each YouTuber does it there way and even though they are close can cause confusion to a new Scripter. So find a YouTuber

Step 2: Watch the designated YouTuber’s Beginners course anything as late as 2020 is still valid so don’t be afraid if it doesn’t say 2022. After watching there beginner guide watch there other series.

Step 3: After finishing their serie(s) try and make a simple game. Nothing to much like a simple simulator or something you don’t even need to publish it just to see your progress for yourself.

Step 4: Explore other YouTube Scripters and see how they are different then the one you watch and if how they do it is easier.
**I advise choose two more and skim through there selections on beginner guides.

Step 5: Figure out a game you want to make and look up YouTube tutorials. Now that you have some sort of an idea copying their script you could read through it and make sense of why it works.

Step 6: Ask for help on the DevForum and from friends or comment on the YouTube page or visit their Discord.

Visit the toolbox often and look at the scripts never ever use them in game but test the scripts and if they work go into the scripts and see if you can understand them.
