See x new or updated topic

Hello,

I’m unsure if this is a bug or it’s on intentional but on the Scripting Support Forum (I don’t know if it’s the case on the others), when we click on the button to see the new/updated topic, the pinned “About the Scripting Support category” topic is no longer pinned, the new/updated topic goes on top. It’s fixable by refreshing the page though.

Browser Information: Chrome 136 on Windows 10

Expected behavior:

I think the updated/new topics should go under the pinned message because a pinned message shoud be pinned no matter what.

What you’re seeing is actually the expected behavior in Discourse. When new or updated topics arrive while you’re viewing a category page, Discourse shows a banner like “See # new or updated topics.” Clicking it will insert those topics at the top of the list — even above pinned topics.

This is part of how Discourse handles live updates to keep the latest activity visible without a full page refresh. It’s not something we control on our end.

Pinned topics will return to the top if you refresh the page. Appreciate you flagging this!
