Seeking Clarification: Commercial Use of “Roblox” in Educational/Tutorial Brand Name

Hello DevForum Community and Staff,

I am an experienced developer building a structured, comprehensive educational platform with the goal of raising the skill ceiling for the next generation of Roblox developers. I am seeking feedback on the legal/IP compliance of my current branding strategy, as I want to ensure I am fully aligned with all Roblox Terms of Use and Community Usage Guidelines.

My Project Goal: To provide in-depth, professional-grade courses (Luau Scripting, Studio, Blender) to create a consistent pipeline of skilled developers for the platform.

My Current Branding Strategy (for Off-Platform Content: YouTube/Website):

  1. Brand Name: I have chosen the name “The UNOFFICIAL Roblox Tutor.”
  2. IP Mitigation: To adhere to the guidelines against implying affiliation or using the IP for unauthorized commercial use, I have taken the following specific steps:
  • Disclaimer: The word “UNOFFICIAL” is a permanent, prominent part of the brand name and the channel handle (@UNOFFICIAL_ROBLOX_TUTOR).
  • Logo Use: I have removed the official Roblox logo/tilt from all my channel art, thumbnails, and branding.
  • Commercial Products: I have strictly refrained from using the name “Roblox Tutor” or any Roblox IP (logo, classic avatars) on any physical commercial products (T-shirts, etc.).
  • Mascot: All branding relies on my own custom-designed character/logo which is my unique intellectual property.
  1. Future Goal: My long-term goal, should the brand prove successful, is to formally approach the Business Development team to seek a licensing agreement to secure the name “Roblox Tutor” and transition to an authorized partner.

The Core Question:

Given the strict guidelines on using the word “Roblox” in commercial titles, is the use of the name “The UNOFFICIAL Roblox Tutor” (with the mandatory disclaimer, no logo, and no physical commercial products) a sufficient and compliant method of providing external educational resources?

My primary concern is ensuring full legal compliance while still being able to clearly communicate to the intended audience what the tutorials are about.

Any feedback from experienced developers or official staff on whether this strategy is the correct and safest way to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
