I’ve recently released a game inspired by Doors and I’m looking for feedback on it.
I’ve noticed that players don’t seem to be enjoying it as much as I hoped, session times are short, day 1/7 retention is near 0 and feedback has been minimal or negative. I’m not entirely sure what’s turning people away.
If you have a moment, I’d really appreciate it if you could:

Hey there, congrats on the game! I’ve just played a bit but died just after builderman’s house to the green smiley face guy. I’ve had a think and here are my three main things I’d change:
More entities At the moment theres only the green smiley face guy and the skibidi toilet (there might be others that I haven’t encountered) and I think there should be more so that the game becomes more nuanced and interesting. How about a transparent dude who spawns when you leave a room, follows you, and runs away if you look at him? (also maybe reskin the skibidi toilet)
Closets and Desks What are they doing here? Are they supposed to be stuff that people chucked down the loo? They don’t fit with the theme very well. I recommend replacing them with lockers for sewage workmen or something that feels better suited to the place (I’m sure you can come up with something better than me though)
The Feel of the Game I think part of the reason the stats are so low is that the game feels so similar to doors. Thats one of problems with making a game based off another game, it can be difficult for people to play your game as opposed to the original. It’s possible for clones to thrive, like Pressure did, but it’s much easier if you differentiate the game more. Adding more mechanics of your own design or putting a twist on the doorslike subgenre will probably help your game stand out.
Those are my thoughts on your game. But it’s not my game, it’s yours. I’m just some guy on the internet, so of course take my suggestions with a pinch of salt.
That said, I think these would be good ways to improve your game and expand your playerbase. Whether you use my ideas or someone elses, I wish you luck on your gamedev journey.
