Severe Connection Problems

Quite recently, connecting to ANY Roblox service takes an incredibly long time. Studio authentication fails, Studio never loads a place selected from the website, DevForum 404s, and trying to play a game results in the message “waiting for an available server” - forcing you to restart the application. status.roblox.com hasn’t updated recently with any error messages (apart from the DevForum earlier today), so I’m not sure if engineers are aware of the connectivity issues.

This has been occurring since at least June 20th.

Hey there, this sounds like a bunch of smaller issues combined into one. For example, the devforum 404 earlier today was caused by an outage and should no longer be happening. I saw some similar reports about the Studio authentication issues you might want to contribute to.

Any chance you can break this down into specific bug reports about specific features, if the unreliability is lasting for some time?

Seems to be a general connection problem to Roblox’s services. Not sure if making individual posts would help matters any since they all share the same root problem.

I’m fairly sure these are not the same root cause (e.g. devforum is using completely different infra than the other things you mention), so I’d recommend we create separate bug reports for the specific issues. There’s also not enough detail here for an engineer to go in and investigate. Sorry for the inconvenience of re-filing the reports, but basically this might not be that actionable for us in the way it is written right now.

I have been having the exact same issues as well as excessive failures of teleportservice in any game.

I think this issue may be geographical in nature, another user in this thread pointed out he stopped having issues when he got his DNS to stop bouncing off the Virginia data center, and others I’ve spoken to experiencing issues are based in the mid-Atlantic.

This has been happening to me as well around the same time period. This also has to be a regional issue, as I use the Virginia servers often and am experiencing the same issues.

While I am able to eventually make it onto a stable connection, there are usually other issues instead. Here is a general summary of every issue I’ve experienced so far:

  • Leaving an experience within the desktop version of Roblox can rarely require another sign-in or restart.
  • Joining an experience can occasionally hang on “Waiting for an available server…”
  • Assets fail to load in or have an extended loading time, causing invisible models, textures, etc.
  • Playtesting within studio occasionally results in a plain grey avatar
  • Saving to Roblox and closing studio will not function most of the time, you have to manually save to Roblox.
  • Loading a place may get hung on “Opening place…”
  • Opening a place within studio occasionally requires a login via browser.
  • The mobile app will fail or take a long time to load certain aspects of the home page such as friend’s names, experience details, etc.

I have already gone through the process of reinstalling Roblox, checking my routers, etc., and nothing seemed to work for me.

I hope this can be fixed, because it is a really annoying issue for a lot of developers.

Bumping as I am experiencing the same problem. It is also effecting Roblox Studio so I can’t even develop comfortably.

Bumping this too! I’m having extremely similar issues where Roblox freezes my computer whenever I launch, which is definitely related to the issues above.

bumping as well, studio has been regularly giving these connection issues all the time. Starting around the time they released next gen explorer. wonder if someone tripped up the network code in studio while modifying the UI?

Bumping! I’m having the same issues: Roblox and Roblox Studio is incredibly slow and buggy. In Roblox games the client has issue teleporting on command, sometimes giving HTTP Errors ACROSS different games. In Roblox Studio issues come up when attempting to open experiences often asking for re-signing or giving out an error.

I tried restarting my computer to see if any progress would be made in fixing the bug. However that didn’t work, uninstalling and reinstalling both Roblox and Roblox Studio did not make a difference either.

Plugins are forgetting that I give them script permissions, and I’m now getting logged out of studio each time I open it.

Yes I am having massive issues in multitudes of ways myself. I guess we wait for them to resolve whatever is going on.

Also I’m unable to playtest in studio occasionally, and the console outputs these two error messages:

Hopefully these error messages help engineers figure out what system is failing.

I aswell am experiencing these issues every single time I play a game or log onto studio. it has been happening for about a week or two.

I’m not sure if this is a related problem to this thread or if it is something else, but I have been experiencing extremely frequent server connections problems when trying to join any of games Im working on I get extremely frequent "failed to connect to game (ID = 17: Connection attempt failed) error code 279. I have zero reason to believe this is an issue with my internet connection, as I can join other places. Yet, most of the time I go to join one that I have edit permissions in, it has taken upwards of 25 minutes of attempting to join before I can join a place to test new features, this can also happen when teleporting to a subplace inside a game.

If this is unrelated, I can create a separate thread for this problem because I would like to see it resolved. This has been extremely killing to workflows of mine because I cannot even join my own game sometimes to test issues, nor test issues in a testing universe because I simply cannot join. Restarting my PC / reinstalling roblox does not fix this problem.

ever since the first thread a few weeks ago (i linked it in a previous reply) theres been several issues with all of the systems besides the completely separate devforum it seems

Been consistently having this issues too, and it is really frustrating. Slowing down my work a ton. Hope this gets resolved soon.

For what it’s worth, my experiences corroborate and line up @MonkeyIncorporated’s post regarding this potentially being an issue with the servers in Virginia. I haven’t personally investigated anything that much yet, though, so it’s hard to say.
