A few weeks ago, we announced that animations have moved to the asset privacy system and are sharable across experiences. As promised in that post, we have now enabled sharing animations with connections and groups!
How to share animations
You can now share animations from the Creator Hub asset configuration page. On the side bar for animations, youâll see a new Permissions option. Click Permissions and you will see tabs for sharing with Collaborators and Experiences.
Under Collaborators, you can share with connections and groups. Also, for those of you who asked for it in the last announcement, there is now an Experiences tab where you can grant experience permissions.
Sharing with connections and groups works the same as other private asset types. When an animation is shared with a collaborator, that user or group members with the correct permissions will be able to grant permission to use the animation in their experiences. You can revoke this access from collaborators at any time. Full documentation can be found here.
Whatâs next
We want to enable animations in shared models and packages next. We also hear you on needing a way to share animations more publicly and are looking into how to solve this. Creator Store is looking like a good option.
Bulk asset permission management is also a big pain point weâd like to help with, so stay tuned.
Let us know if you have any questions and feedback. Thanks everyone!
Oh yeah, if anyone could use an animation then hackers could easily upload a animation and share it to the public. And once itâs public, hackers could use that animation in any game since animations are client side! Hackers would really like public animations for sure!

how to solve this
Itâs simple: You make animations publicly shareable in the exact same way as models and decals.
Ah, I thought it was a flat out replacement word. Most probably thought the same with all the friends to connections stuff adding onto the whole games to experiences.
Favorites might be switching to Saved, on marketplace assets more or just audio as it is now, or entirely replacing the word âFavorite.â Iâm confused about the direction tbh.
Man, Iâm never getting used to this new language.
So we can now share Animation assets with connections and communities and use them in our shared connection/communityexperiences.
I feel old. I sound old. I just had to get this off my chest. Itâs obvious people still say âmake games with friends and groupsâ both in and out of Roblox HQ. I know thereâs some corporate reason, some vision for the platform that Iâm yet blind to, that requires Roblox to use this modern corporate tongue that deliberately makes things sound more⌠âinnovativeâ? Progressive? Politically correct? I donât know at this point.
