I am new at making games(scripting, building, etc…) and I was thinking about a big game that I could do and that I wanna do.
Unfortunately I am just alone and if I continue like that, this game will be finished in a few months or even in a year and I don’t know what to do. Should I continue making this game maybe knowing that it won’t be as good as I thought it would be but I still can learn while making it, or just getting back to reality and completly give up on this project knowing that I am not that good for it
I think going too big or too ambitious, especially when you’re new to Roblox, would lead to burnout, or even if you do manage to push the game out, disappointment, as the game didn’t meet your vision. Though you should never give up on a good, passionate game, it is better to start smaller and gradually build up the skills you need to work on a bigger game, and when you do get to that point, you could have another passionate project in mind that you now have the skills to make. This was my philosophy going into Roblox development 5 months ago as a new developer. I wanted to do a massive project as many beginners would, but I realized I didn’t know ANYTHING!! So I made 2 smaller games within the span of like 3 months, gaining no success whatsoever, but that didn’t deter me from making the current passion project I’m working on, which has since seen some success with a good playerbase at the time of speaking.
TLDR: Don’t give up, start small, build up skills, by the time you have acquired all the skills, you may have a different passion project. When you’re ready, build that passion project!!
If you are sure that you can do it - do it.
But prepare to burnouts, forcing yourself to work, not procrastinate, and use all your free time on your game. That’s what I did to make my game - 15 months of forcefull work. As result, I’m now linked to game I did, cuz I don’t want to trash all that work.
