Should I keep working on my game?

Hey so I recently started developing this game and I am kind of losing motivation to keep updating it. Please let me know if this idea is good and if other people would enjoy playing the game on release.

The game itself is a survival game similar to minecraft and other games in the sandbox survival genre, the only thing is that my game is multiplayer so players can kill each other and build, cool.

I am trying to add more unique features to distinguish it from other games, like more chaos and crazy, unnatural stuff. Also the game is really new so it doesn’t even have a thumbnail and some of the tool icons are placeholders. (Furnace, Wooden Wall, Beef, Cooked Beef, Game News).

Reply if you got any feedback, hopefully you can find me in game playing aswell.

Tutorial

If you are confused how to play, here’s a short tutorial: Grab the rock in your hotbar, destroy 2 trees, craft planks and craft sticks to make wooden pickaxe and axe. Then grab 14 stone and make yourself a furnace and stone pickaxe/axe. This is the part to get you started, there’s more to do ofc but you can understand it from there on out.

I play the game and I have no idea what I’m doing or how to play. Maybe work on that.

Yes, I will definately work on a tutorial but consider that the game’s development just started. If you join the game and find me playing I’ll be happy to explain how to play.

You shouldn’t have to explain to me how to play, nor should you need an in-depth tutorial. The game should be intuitive enough to guide me through the mechanics without any direct instructions.

If you ever have to say ā€œlet me show you xyzā€, your onboarding needs fixing.

I don’t have an opinion on the entire game because I never got past that, so deffo make that #1 priority.

True, I added the controls UI on the left to make you familiar with the game’s controls on start. The UI needs fixing, also, you start with a rock as you spawn in, you are supposed to grab the rock and destroy a tree.

That said, ty for the feedback, I’ll be sure to make the game easier to understand.

Also one thing worth mentioning is that I am looking for a game name so suggestions are open.

Yeah absolutely keep working on it! No reason to stop.

There is 1 big thing you must consider similar to something you mentioned and that is how unique your game is. There are tons of Minecraft clones/inspired games, what sets yours apart from the other ones, what feature is going to make your game YOUR game.?

Gameplay wise,
On the toolbar instead of having items separate, make them stackable; if you have 4 planks don’t show all 4 in the toolbar instead have a UI that designates the amount of materials you have above each item on the toolbar.

Maybe ability to change FOV.

Ambience/Lighting and atmosphere.

It’s not a bad project in my opinion and what do you have to lose if you continue to pursue with this.

What I advise you to do though is think about what you can do to make the game stand out from others, especially if you plan to sponsor or promote this as the above user mentioned there is a lot of games like this.

I would also focus on getting better textures to make it not too similar to Minecraft, group inventory so you don’t have a unique item in your toolbar if you have multiple of one specific item and better GUI.

Besides that, awesome work.

I will definitely look into that since I hate seeing multiple items in the hotbar aswell.

Thank you for playing I hope you enjoyed the game!

Hey, thank both you for playing and commenting this, I plan to add a lot of content but I’m not sure where to start.

I want to add an obsidian Island outside the main island and add boats. Also, I want to add armor to make player fights more interesting. Maybe remake the sword too since it’s just a recolor of the roblox classic sword.
