I want to start a forum (since i did not find one), on the topic node based scripting and to discuss it with the community if this is actually worth the time and effort.
What is node based scripting (Visual Scripting)?
Summery
Node scripting is an easier alternative of scripting that even non-coders
can script their work independently, while other beginner scripters
can learn from it before moving over to conventional scripting.
Pros
Easier to understand for Non-coders or beginners.
Easier to add changes, analyze code and debug.
Cons
Takes more preformance to compile.
Harder to beautify when the complexity of the script increases. (Spaghetti code)
Final thoughts
Since luau is one of the easiest scripting languages and the progression of AI tools we all have to ask ourselfs, is this feature worth it (if so would you use it)?
Personally i would only use it for scripts who demand clients & non-coders to modify and read.
I mentioned it a while back to Roblox staff… but figured they wouldn’t add it.
With Ai helping out now… it is less in demand… but if it makes it easier to understand.. why not.
I bought the BlockLua plugin… but I have hardly used it as well.
It has come a long way.. but yet it is just laying there.. unused.
Maybe Ai made it easier getting scripts.. understanding what I need.
Along the way.. I can see how things should be done.. so I’m learning.
I can read Lua decently… in time I hope to write it from the mind.
But for you product… it is always having more options - so Go for it.
Maybe there will be enough interest.. which comes when they see the product.
It’s just an available option… everyone makes their coffee differently.. no ?
The more options.. the better.. and everyone is free to choose their’s.
People just want to get the job done quicker.. and Ai is here for precisely that.
Some of us . not knowing coding.. will milk if as much as we can… and it’s like having a waiter making my coffee for me
Professionals use it to speed up their work.
Haters will just hate.. until they cave in themselves.
We can discuss it here but i wont waste our time, it is useless we both cannot change whats comming. AI is not a waiter it is a artificial disaster that we have created in the name of cutting costs.
We made our hands reach the sky, while our mind still fears the dark.
