SlothX Launcher - A Roblox application launcher

:star2: SlothX Launcher – Open Source Roblox Client Launcher

Hey Robloxians!
Introducing SlothX Launcher – a lightweight and modern application launcher for Roblox Player and Roblox Studio, made to simplify your experience launching the platform.

:dart: What is it?

SlothX Launcher is designed to solve a frustrating issue many of us face — myself included: having to dig through the Start Menu or re-pin Roblox after every update.

This launcher automatically detects the latest installed versions of Roblox Player and Studio, then launches them with a single click.

It’s completely standalone — no installation required. Just download it, run it, and you’re good to go.

:sparkles: Features

  • :mag: Auto-detects the latest version of Roblox Player & Studio
  • :rocket: One-click launch for both clients
  • :bulb: Simple, modern UI
  • :file_folder: Lightweight (no bloat)
  • :hammer_and_wrench: Open source and fully inspectable
  • :brain: No background processes — only runs when you need it

:package: Download

You can download the latest .exe build from the GitHub Releases page, or manually build it from the source if you prefer extra caution.

:shield: Security & Transparency

I get it — downloading random .exe files is a red flag. That’s why SlothX Launcher is 100% open source under the MIT license.
You can read, audit, or even build the project yourself from source.

:brain: Why This Exists

Roblox’s auto-update system often removes shortcuts or unpins the app from your taskbar or Start menu, which can be frustrating. SlothX Launcher helps avoid that hassle by giving you a reliable and easy way to launch Roblox Player or Roblox Studio — no matter how many times it updates.

It’s built for all Robloxians who want a smoother, faster way to play or create.

Personally, I’ve never had this issue. I just search for Roblox and it finds the Player and Studio super easily, even right after an update. When Roblox is updated, it can still find the Player and Studio, so you just go to roblox.com in a browser, find a game and hit Play or Edit in Studio and it works.

Great resource. But it’s tackling a problem that never really existed… js use win alt enter

Well, how does it look then?

isn’t this reinventing the wheel? i’ve never had any of the issues you’ve mentioned

Reinventing the wheel, don’t think so? I made this as not only myself but my friends too have experienced the pins/shortcuts getting deleted whenever Roblox updates. So I made this to combat it.

Maybe not for you. But myself, friends, and others have experienced the problem

Myself and others don’t use the website for launching the player to play games or to edit an experience in studio

That just adds another step though. I though it was supposed to remove a step.

It removes the step of needing to repin the application and searching for it if not pinned every time Roblox updates

I dont think ive ever had this issue. I just do Windows + S and type roblox and the player and studio shows up. Im not saying this isnt useful, but personally i think this is just bloat

The problem exists for users who use the desktop icons.

But this isn’t a solution for it:
I’m not gonna install a whole launcher/app for a desktop shortcut.

Maybe if it was a batch file/script that runs evertime Studio updates, that updates the desktop shortcut path to the new one.

its literally windows built-in

Sorry, I noticed I didn’t explain the problem and only said “The problem exists”

Roblox always resets my shortcut after updating, so if I arranged the shortcut in a specific way, or moved it to another folder.
Roblox ia gonna reset this after an update.

In short: any changes done to the Roblox shortcut icon resets after updating.

It’s not the end of the world, but it’s a bit annoying.

I find this very useful as someone who keeps their taskbar organized. And for those people saying this issue does not exist, it actually does. Whenever Roblox updates, it makes the shortcuts you had (both Studio and the regular launcher) redundant and whenever you try to use those shortcuts, it doesn’t work.
