This devforum post is for my friend @biggysads because he doesn’t have member access to post. He created the hat “smart moon” with no intention of it being terrorism, but it still got deleted anyway, and he got a 7-day ban; his account status was marked as critical, and he was timed out for 6 months from DevEx.
i hope your aware that making humanoid moon faces will result in an account ban because of the reference to the extremely racist internet figure moon man
ugc moderators frequently mess up unbans and dont reconsider even after sending a message stating they lifted the ban due to the complexity of the situation
Hasn’t been brought up in this thread yet, but it’s important to recognize the context that “Moon Man” was stolen from McDonalds’ Mac Tonight. There’s still plenty of people who remember Mac for being a dine-in entertainer animatronic. Unless there’s context to suggest otherwise, I wouldn’t assume someone’s moon character was made to be a reference to a racist meme.
That being said, I can see why Roblox would want to be defensive here. Just because the UGC creator made it in good faith doesn’t mean the players wearing it will carry the same intentions. Moderation should both be more transparent about why the item is denied, and give a first warning before claiming violent extremism.
