Softbody Physics

Hey friends, I’m trying to make a game that includes slime NPCs and I really want them to have a realistic, squishy feel. The player will be throwing them around so it’ll define how the game feels.

I strongly feel that a softbody simulation would be the best way to achieve this, but truly I don’t even know where to start with it. Does anyone know how to make this? Or could point me in a direction to find out how?

Thank you!

EDIT: To note, I’m referencing this kind of simulation:

Since editable meshes are limited to (device-specfic memory budget), i don’t think you will have many alot of these slimes (on editables meshes) on some devices (depends).

If meshpart then Bones and attachments, physics
and logic of cacluting i guess.

Same goes to editables meshes but different way (since it has more functions of changing mesh’s vercties and etc)

I think you can only have 6-8 editable meshes on the client and of course when you make them on the server they dont replicate, so i wouldnt recommend my system for a game with lots of softbody models. However, i think the best way to do this would require bones in a mesh, and depending on the character’s velocity it would adjust the bones using some simple math for a softbody effect.

Ok interesting! I did not know about that limit. And I agree now bones seem to be the answer. Thank you!
