Squash and stretch for humanoid rigs?

Has anyone been able to properly replicate squash-and-stretch using humanoid rigs? And if so, how would one go about it?

Honestly, I haven’t thought about doing anything like this
but I can think of 2 ways of doing this:

  • Making a character rig in blender and squashing/stretching it with its bones
  • Scaling each part of the character to sort of imitate the squashing/stretching

i haven’t really done a lot with character rigs so I’m not sure if my first solution would mess up some textures or anything

I’ve tried that, and unfortunately it didn’t work. Maybe I’m missing something though, I might try again.
