State Highway Patrol Divisions

Division Responsibilities

Patrol Division

  • The patrol division is the main division within State Highway Patrol. Everyone is part of it. The goal of the Patrol Division is to make sure the roads and areas of Liberty County are safe.

Internal Affairs (I.A.)

  • The goal of the Internal Affairs division is to keep every employee within State Highway Patrol in line with department guidelines. Internal Affairs has the ability to conduct investigations on any member of the State Highway Patrol, and suspend/terminate with the permission of the Watch Commander.

Special Response Team (S.R.T.)

  • The Special Response Team is a paramilitary law enforcement unit that specializes in high-risk situations that conventional police are not trained or equipped to handle.

Fish & Games

  • the Fish & Game division was founded to spearhead search & rescue efforts and enforce wildlife code and ordinances. Wildlife Troopers are on the forefront of some of our nation’s last frontiers. Be it checking fishing licenses, rescuing persons from crashed vessels, or generally just making sure nature is preserved for the future.

Dispatch

  • Dispatch holds a vital role within the State Patrol. It’s the job of our Dispatchers to log the hours of all Troopers who use the dispatch system. Every promotional period (every other Tuesday) dispatchers will send the finished report to the Watch Commander who will then decide promotional eligibility. Dispatch plays a vital role in making promotion day more efficient for the Watch Commander.
