State of Barkley | Volunteers: Department Leadership & Development
About the Project
State of Barkley is an in-development R15 ro-state roleplay experience set on a fictional island off the Pacific Coast, inspired by California’s Central Coast and Santa Barbara. Players live, work, and serve across the city of Santa Marina and the sprawling wine country of Monterra County.
Our goal is to foster a balanced, interactive roleplay environment where all aspects matters. Law enforcement responds to real player and automated calls, Fire & Rescue handles emergencies across the state, criminals have meaningful ways to earn, and civilians can run their own player-owned businesses, invest in stocks, or work for others!

Open Positions
Departmental Leadership
We’re looking for people passionate about realistic roleplay to help build our departments from the ground up.
You’d help with:
- SOPs, training and intake programs, and handbooks
- Uniform, vehicle, and equipment standards
- Department Discord organization
Ideal if you: have experience in ro-state communities, understand real-world agency structure, and are organized and reliable.
Development Team
Help shape the game itself. We’re looking for volunteers who are passionate in this genre:
- Terrain Designer: terrain, vegetation
- CSG Modeler: model vehicles, and other tools
Community & Creative
- Staff / Moderators: community management and support
- Founding members: show early support and engagement with Barkley
Compensation
These are volunteer positions. State of Barkley is a passion project, and we’re upfront about that. In return, you’ll get:
- Full credit for your work in-game and on our pages
- A real say in how the project is shaped
- Potential future payments and or RevShare depending on contributions
