Hi,
I have been working on a game for over a year now, and I have been questioning myself about the lines that my characters have. This is a sort of Half-life/Portal inspired game, and of course I want my characters to feel real and authentic.
The issue is that, when I wrote the lines, I included some swearing (not a lot, but it is there), depending on the situation. The game is rated 13+ so far, but I do not know if this has an impact on how the game’s content is moderated. And since I want my characters to feel real (and all the character are grown-up), well I think it really help to have them swearing at some point.
The game is single-player, so obviously players literally cannot talk to each others, so the swearing problem is literally not affecting the player in any way (and isn’t even implemented in the game because I always been concerned about this).
I thought that I could censor the swears in the game’s dialogs, but hearing a loud sound each time a character swear to censor it wouldn’t be great, and I also thought of changing these words so it could be suited for everyone, but the characters wouldn’t look that authentic anymore.
Can anyone help me with this issue?
