I’ve been having issues with editing posts on my tablet for… what feels like years now. I don’t know if this is just an issue with iPadOS, the browser I’m using (Chrome) or if it’s some isssue with the Discourse forum software, but I’m getting tired of trying to ignore it because it genuinely is really frustrating to work with, I always use landscape when I use my tablet since it’s more familiar to my desktop aspect ratio.
I don’t show every issue I’ve had in this video but it should demonstrate a good chunk of what I’ve been experiencing:
- Can sometimes only see like 0-2 lines of text at a time.
- Trying to select text is buggy because it’s trying to scroll the background as well, causing the selection to panic.
- Weird auto replaced characters when trying to write code snippets
- Typing quote characters forces them to be replaced with smart quotes
- Typing a double minus sign gets replaced with an em-dash
- Typing 3 dots gets replaced with some single character representation of those 3 dots.
