Struggling to get seamless / pretty transition between terrain materials

Does anyone have any advice to allow my edges to fade into the other material more? It is going to be difficult to blend this together.

Here it is with a normal map, the problem slightly alleviated but still exists:

If I up my normal map any more the grass looks way too 3d to be pretty.
