Struggling with game promotion

I was posting youtube videos and with 500 views each shorts video i gained 0 joins. Now I switched to tiktok, but everything seems even worse. Some people with worse content get more, but I can’t. Everybody on forum say how tiktok and youtube are useful, but I got almost NOTHING from them. What could I do wrong?

My videos are made like: it’s a 16:9 video with blurry background to fit empty spaces; I record a footage of something new; inserting any sound from tiktok that seems good for me; vids uploaded in 1080p 24/30 fps with hashtags including roblox and gamedev

i recommend just spending 50 bucks on ad credits to sponsor your game if you truly believe in it. Also if others’ content is getting more views, maybe there’s something you can learn from them.

You could try asking Small/Medium Streamers to test your game, that will attract some people.

Hi, well, no examples, so not much to see, but the main problems could be here:

  • An overused game idea on Roblox, so most players are tired of seeing more of the same. You need to look different than other similar games on YouTube or TikTok.
  • Videos’ impact could be better (presenting your game in a more fun/striking way, visually).
  • Algorithms just don’t give you visibility.

Can you list some of them please?

Since the one I watched from over 6 years ago it’s more than gone, and I don’t remember the name.

All I can tell you is to go any Social Media that has livestreams and then search “Playing your roblox games” You should find some channels over there where you tell them to play your game.

assuming that this is your game

the tycoon genre is incredibly saturated in the platform, so you already have competition in that regard
when making a game, you should always ask why someone should want to play your game over the other games in the genre, from first impressions this game does not really look too much different from many other tycoon games on the platform
additionally, the game is by no means intuitive, typically they just give you some shiny annoying arrow that tells you to buy the next item now to keep kids engaged, this game doesnt have that same hand holding
the guide is there, but it should be something players get immediately prompted with on join
older audiences arent going to be engaged because theres no reason to play this over a tycoon that is more advanced, and the game isnt really appealing to younger audiences with games that have a lot of eye candy

selling your game is one thing, but engagement should be another thing, and the longer people play the more roblox will end up promoting it, you should focus more on keeping the players that are playing engaged so eventually roblox will pick it up in the recommended by chance, thats my best suggestion

I want to attract older audience( 12-15 ) because older players won’t play this anyway, and younger players don’t form active community, they just seek for short dopamine dose and switch game once they got what they wanted and graphics isn’t eyemelting anyways. Is there something I can do?

my best suggestion would be to try to innovate on the genre and stick out then, try to implement some technicality to your game like being able to manually build the tycoon rather then having pre-placed parts, theres a couple of good examples out there of this sort of thing like

just focus on making your own spin on it, originality is key to the appeal, then use that originality as your selling point in advertising on youtube and tiktok

Manual tycoons don’t seem cool for to make, that’s way harder to make. And they aren’t unique too! I played many of them and they aren’t so interesting. And what original mechanic could I implement in my game? Most popular games on discover page are literal reskins of other reskins! However I saw many games that use mechanics I had in my head years ago and they get popular, but I considered them too generic to make. If any generic thing can randomly become popular, why my existing games can’t?? I had an idea about game where you can terraform planets, and a !TYCOON! game about that thing got popular recently. perhaps I should try something like “TYCOON BUT YOU ARE A FISH” or “BUILD A BASE ON PLANETS AND FIGHT CRAZY CREATURES EVERY 5 MINUTES!!!”? the second one seems a bit interesting, but this will require ton of scripting which will be hard to implement with my spaghetti-code writing with tying 286 scripts to each other. Even if I do something like this, from my previous experience as tiktok content maker, videos will only succeed if you get REALLY lucky, maybe I had 10% of success ratio of vids, and I hate making videos from now on, so making anything requires a lot of time and willpower. I don’t know how to solve all these problems. Maybe I will succeed one day, but It won’t come anytime soon when I do 1 video per month and just 4 not so big updates per year. this is the biggest problem currently
