[Studio Beta] Introducing Alpha Mode to MaterialVariant

How do I use this? I am opted into “MaterialVariant Alpha Mode” in the Beta settings menu, but I can’t actually find the Alpha Mode setting for the life of me.

nvm I found it, it is on the material instance itself instead of the material manager window

I think enabling this feature has done Some Strange Thing to my other textures present in the same place

Hi, are there any updates when this will release into the client?

I’ve been waiting for this to be released for client for six months now!

At this point, probably never. No news about a feature for 5 months is crazy.

I’m not gonna lie, this is a W update, thanks!

you should make it so when the transparency material varient is selected and painted onto the terrain, it overlays that material on the material underneath it while making that material transparent in the transparent sections andnot tinting it

From my testing, MaterialVariant was noticeably more performant when a large number of objects were on-screen (5,000+) using it versus Texture instances.

Ive tried it, and yeah, not gonna lie, it’s a huge improvement like hella lot. All I know is that the texture duplicated the meshes after I exported them from Roblox to Blender, which doubles the tris and causes game lag. Hopefully, they release it as soon as possible because it’s a total game changer.
