(I know it may be a bad habit) but when I am finished editing a place I like to press CTRL+W to prompt studio to close, and it will ask me if I want to publish it or not (I do), but rarely it comes up with an error window saying “Failed to publish” and then I close the message and studio closes without saving the changes. I think it would be better if studio were to stay open even if it was told to close and failed to publish the place as I have to go back and re-do the work I have lost
A temporary fix for it failing to upload is to click “Manage Plugins” to get to the website in studio then log out and in again. Mine closes because when I finish editing my game I press CTRL+W (which closes the window) but I would prefer it to stay open and not make me lose my work if it fails to publish
I’ve seen scattered reports about this, but I’ve never been able to repro it. I haven’t heard the part about Ctrl+W though, that’s interesting. What OS are you on? Does this only ever happen to a certain place(s)?
Windows 7 Pro. It doesn’t seem to happen on a specific place I don’t think. I think it closes after failing because studio expects that it has uploaded it (but it hasn’t) and closes as normal after you exit the error message
Sounds about right. Still not sure what’s causing it to fail in that particular manner though. When this happens, do you have more than one place open? Does the place close before or after you close the error box?
I have only one place open. I logged out and in again using studio and I could publish the place (I could once, but the second time I published it a few minutes later I got the error). Studio closes after I close the message down
Can you try publishing from file->publish before you close the place? I wonder if you’re being signed out at some point and that’s why the publish is failing. Doing a publish via the file menu should at least tell you you aren’t signed in (if that’s the case).
