I took a MeshPart, and Negated a section of it with the Union tool as part of the new Beta feature. This worked fine. However, after applying a texture to the MeshPart, my Studio crashed. I cannot launch the experience in Studio anymore, as it crashes.
After trying a few more times, it didn’t crash. However, the Unioned MeshPart is now broken. (See the part highlighted in blue). It should look exactly like the MeshPart to it’s left.
I resolved the issue by taking the original MeshPart, Unioning it with a Negate part, exporting the new MeshPart into Blender, selecting all Vertices, and Merging by Distance. Note the original MeshPart was a perfect watertight mesh with no duplicate Verts, Faces, or Edges. The problem seems to have occured when trying to apply a texture decal to a Unioned MeshPart.
If you have a copy of the original placefile or rbxm that was crashing studio, we would be very interested in taking a look at it!
mannnn idk. yall arent gonna steal my 1 million dollar idea right?? how can i send the file privately.
Bump. This just happened to me, can’t open my place in studio without a ctd.
Just keep trying to open the place from Studio. It took me like 5 tries and it re-opened with the Mesh disfigured.
Hey! Can you share the place file with me so I can look into this issue?
Sorry about that. Will see if I can get a handle on the file you shared. FYI the decal crash should be fixed by now. Also note that Union MeshParts don’t persist across sessions, so restarting studio or starting play mode will not persist the MeshPart. We are working right now on removing this restrictions and once we move out of Studio Beta this should be solved.
Thanks for the update on the fix. Sorry for not sending the place file earlier though.
