Studio shows a black screen on every launch — LoginPageExperiment texture assets missing from install (textures/LoginPage/)

Roblox Studio shows a completely black screen immediately after launch, every single time, with no UI ever rendered — no menu bar, no explorer, no viewport, nothing. This has been happening consistently since my very first install.

First observed on 2026-08-30 (JST) on my very first install, and it has continued without any change on every single launch since then, including right after a full uninstall/reinstall performed today, 2026-10-01 (JST).

Environment: Windows 11 Home (25H2, build 26200.9168). CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with Radeon Graphics. dGPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti (4GB), driver 32.0.16.1656 (WHQL). iGPU: AMD Radeon Graphics, driver 31.0.21925.1001 (WHQL). RAM: 16GB. External monitor: 4K (3840x2160) via HDMI (also reproduces on the laptop’s own display and at 1920x1080). DirectX 12, Feature Level 12_1 confirmed via dxdiag. Studio build: 0.741.19.7411056 (confirmed from today’s fresh install).

What I have tried so far (all with no change, still 100% black screen): forcing OpenGL via --graphics-mode=4 (log confirms “Using graphics mode 4-OpenGL”); switching away from the 4K external monitor and lowering resolution to 1920x1080; a full uninstall + reinstall multiple times, most recently today (2026-10-01) on the latest build; reinstalling Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime; reinstalling Visual C++ Redistributable (x86/x64, 2015–2022); running sfc /scannow (which reported finding and repairing corrupted files) followed by DISM /RestoreHealth; a clean boot with third-party services disabled; adding %LOCALAPPDATA%\Roblox to Windows Defender exclusions; deleting GlobalBasicSettings_13_Studio.xml to reset Studio settings; and updating both GPU drivers to the latest version.

Reproduction steps: 1) Launch Roblox Studio (via the browser’s “Edit” button, or directly via RobloxStudioBeta.exe). 2) Wait for the window to open. Result: the window opens but stays completely black, with no UI, no menu, nothing rendered. Reproduction rate: 100% — every single launch, no exceptions, across multiple reinstalls including a fresh reinstall today. This happens before any place is selected or opened, so it is not tied to a specific place file or script — a reproduction place file is not applicable here.

Key finding from the startup log (FLog): While reviewing the full startup log (not just the D3D11/graphics-mode lines), I found this pattern repeats on every single launch:

Info [FLog::LoginPageExperiment] isInLoginPageTreatment: hashValue=2199461901, bucket=1, rolloutPercent=50, inTreatment=true
Info [FLog::StudioTimingLog] LoginPageOpenTime  : 4.3251 sec

Error [FLog::Error] Asset (Image) "rbxasset://textures/LoginPage/Background.png" load failed ...: File not found

My account appears to be enrolled in the “LoginPageExperiment” A/B test (50% rollout), which makes Studio try to render a QR sign-in login page on launch. But the image assets for that page (textures/LoginPage/RobloxStudioLockupLoginPage.png and Background.png) fail to load every time. I checked the install folder directly (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Roblox\Versions<version>\content\textures) and there is no LoginPage folder at all, while every other UI texture folder is present — confirmed again today on a completely fresh install.

My guess is the login page background is meant to render full-screen, and since its image assets are missing from the package, the result is a black screen instead. I can’t verify this against any official documentation since it’s an internal A/B test, but the pattern (LoginPageExperiment enabled + LoginPage textures missing) has been 100% consistent across every reinstall and every workaround I’ve tried.

I also reported this through Roblox Support first; after several rounds they confirmed my account is in this experiment and cannot be individually excluded from it, and recommended reporting it here as a bug instead.

Expected behavior

Launch Roblox Studio normally and see the normal Studio UI (menu bar, explorer, viewport, etc.) appear after launch completes, instead of a black screen.

it depends on Roblox studio theme.
Happens with me too, but the window client area is white.
Let’s call it “empty”.
Thank you!

I think I may have found the solution (maybe). I was having the same problem recently. You could try closing Studio first then, deleting/renaming the OTAPlugins folder in %localappdata%\Roblox\ and then relaunching Studio back. Mine had a corrupted built-in plugin file and regenerating that folder fixed it lowkey.
Reinstalling didn’t work for me either since the OTAPlugins folder was separate from the main Studio install.

Tried this — renamed the OTAPlugins folder under %localappdata%\Roblox\ and relaunched Studio. The folder was recreated on launch, but the black screen was not resolved. Still showing the same symptom (LoginPageExperiment + missing LoginPage textures from my original report).
