My Roblox Studio client is unable to get past the initial “Loading Studio…” splash screen upon startup. It hangs indefinitely, preventing me from accessing the main dashboard.
I’ve discovered a workaround by using theFile > Recents menu to open an experience directly before Studio fully hangs. When I do this, the place file loads successfully, but I see a critical error in the Output window which appears to be the root cause of the issue:
Failed to load plugin type=BuiltInStandalone filepath=StartPage.rbxm in datamodel StudioGameStateType_Edit
This error indicates that the core plugin for Studio’s start page is failing, which prevents Studio from ever initializing properly.
Reproduction Steps :
-
Launch Roblox Studio from the desktop shortcut, start menu, or website.
-
The loading splash screen appears with the message “Loading Studio…”
-
The loading progress bar completes, but the application never moves past this screen. It hangs indefinitely.
-
Expected Behavior I expect Roblox Studio to open normally to the start page (the dashboard) where I can see my projects, templates, and recent files.
Actual Behavior :
- Studio hangs permanently on the initial “Loading Studio…” screen. The error message confirms that the built-in Start Page plugin is failing to load, which is preventing Studio from finishing its startup sequence. The only way to edit an experience is to use the
File > Recentsmenu workaround.
Troubleshooting Steps I’ve Taken:
-
Performed a full, clean reinstallation of Roblox Studio (including deleting all Roblox folders in %localappdata%).
-
Cleared all temporary files and cache.
-
Confirmed my firewall and antivirus are not blocking Roblox Studio.
-
Restarted my computer multiple times.
Expected behavior
Well, normally i would just open up studio and land in the start page. Currently (after the new update btw) I just get stuck on the Studio Loading screen :
Like I’ve also stated before, when using the File dropdown i can access my experience fine. The core problem is that the start page just never loads. Probably because of that missing plugin which somehow fails to load even after a couple of restarts and re-downloads.
