UPDATE: READ THE THIRD REPLY
Issue Description
Upgraded to a brand new PC nearly a month ago, installed Studio and suddenly there are inconsistent frame times (ranging from 53-55ms render time). Somehow the CPU/GPU times seem to be affected as a result to this (in all honesty, I don’t understand a thing). The microprofile dumps will be linked down below for further analysis.
I’ve searched through every inch of bug reports and couldn’t find a similar case to mine. Enjoy the bug hunting.
The solutions I’ve tried include:
- Reinstalling Roblox Studio (+ installing the version prior to the current one)
- Disabling all plugins
- Disabling beta features
- Reinstalling the current graphics driver (directly from the manufacturer’s website)
- Enabling/disabling HPET (High Precision Event Timer)
- Changing/lowering resolution
- Changing Graphics Mode to every single option (except for Vulkan since it crashes)
- Disabling Fullscreen Optimization
- Running on Compatibility Mode
- Changing CPU affinity (Studio already has all cores enabled by default)
- Disabling Game Bar
- Running with administrator privileges
- Forcing High Performance mode on Power Plan + on GPU
- Restoring CPU + GPU to factory settings (without overclock and undervolt)
- Using SFC (System File Checker) and DISM to check for potential corrupted files on my system
- “Factory resetting” with the ISO image (keeping data and files, not a full reset)
- Changing the DisplayPort port

NOTE
-
When creating a local test server, both players have the render time reduced to 29-30ms (32 FPS) whilst the server is not affected;
-
When the studio is UNFOCUSED, a spike pattern can be observed;
-
When I switch to the desktop, Studio returns to it’s expected state;
-
The normal Roblox Client is not affected, my games run smoothly;
-
My old hardware did not show this behavior (GTX 1650 Super, Ryzen 5 3600);
-
Only the Studio has shown this problem ever since I started using the PC. I don’t have any issues running Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity, Vegas Pro, nor heavy-demanding games (such as GTA V on Ultra Preset, 140-150 FPS stable) and benchmarks (Cinebench, Unigine Superposition, etc), which makes me believe the issue is on the Studio Viewport.
Step-by-step reproduction
- Open Roblox Studio;
- Load any place or template, such as an empty baseplate.
