I recently played a game and noticed an inconsistency with the studs. It appears that the studs surface is official, as the texture noticeably changes depending on the graphics quality. However, for some reason, some studs parts doesn’t look the same when the quality is set to 2 or lower.
As you can see in the screenshot, the right studs are the “normal” ones, the same as I see when using parts with studs surfaces in Roblox Studio. However, the left ones are different, there’s no reflection or lighting on them, making them appear softer on the eyes.
So, I’m wondering, how do they achieve this soft studs appearance?
I made some tests in a place of mine, apparently, at lower quality, my parts with a MaterialVariant with stud texture gets “softer”, while other parts with the surface set to Studs kept the quality. So, probably in the game of your screenshot, there is both parts with MaterialVariant and parts with just the surface set to Studs.
I should have mentioned this in the main post, but I already tried this resource, which is pretty close to what I’m looking for. However, I dislike the texture since it somewhat looks like circles when zoomed out.
I did further research since I now know that it is surely a material variant, and found out that multiple games, including the popular new “Steal a Brainrot” game, use that same texture. I discovered that it is a texture from 2022 Roblox studs, which is available for free in the toolbox.
I still mark you as the solution since you get me in the right direction. I also edited the main post to share the material variant properties to achieve the same result.
